    *Jubb 6-3 1-6 0-0 Kyrgios

    Harry Poole
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

‘Oh god’ mutters Nick Kyrgios as he struggles to find his first serve, after two set points go begging.

The pressure continues to build as Jubb let’s a break point get away from him, and the Australian is eventually able to get the job done.

Kyrgios said he didn’t mind being perceived as the villain against a British player on court three today, but it sounds like he has plenty of support here.

  2. Game and second set - Kyrgiospublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Jubb 6-3 1-6 Kyrgios

We're all square at a set apiece after only 47 minutes of action on Court Three.

Kyrgios, holding a double break, had two set points saved by the 22-year-old wildcard Paul Jubb, but the third is converted as Jubb goes long and we're level.

  3. Swiatek about to beginpublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Swiatek v Fett

Up first on Centre Court: it's the world number one.

GB's Swan beatenpublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Kostyuk 4-6 6-4 6-4 Swan

The early break was enough for Marta Kostyuk, who has seen off Katie Swan in three.

That was a decent effort from Swan, particularly after it seemed that her heavily-strapped left thigh was perhaps bothering her more than she would have liked.

    Gauff 0-2 Ruse*

    Huh.

Elena-Gabriela Ruse finds herself 0-40 down but some big hitting from the Romanian - backed up with a couple of nice drop shots - cancels out three break points from Coco Gauff

The Romanian ends up saving another break point before outmuscling Gauff to hold.

Of course, you never know with Nick Kyrgios exactly how he’s feeling or what he’s thinking.

Having spoken about Paul Jubb being in a great position, the Australian goes from being under pressure to seizing his first break of serve of the contest - and consolidating for a 4-1 lead - in the blink of an eye.

Kyrgios is chatting away to the umpire about something. It appears he’s psyched himself up for this now.

  8. Fired-up Kyrgios fights backpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    *Jubb 6-3 1-4 Kyrgios

An angry Kyrgios is a fired up Kyrgios and that spells a tough afternoon for Paul Jubb. Kyrgios was 0-30 down in that game and then produces some brilliant, angry tennis to then storm through that game.

He then has a heated chat with the chair umpire, unhappy at fans booing him.

He says: "They have no right to do that, why is it still happening? You should remove them from the crowd. Booing is acceptable at Wimbledon?

"You don't accept a hat with two logos on but you accept disrespect of an athlete. Where does it stop, where is the line? It has been going on all the time."

Isn't it incredible how quickly something can turn? From all those chances Jubb had, sandbags which were in the shoulders of Kyrgios suddenly fell off.

Nick Kyrgios is a set down, but has just broken the serve of Britain's Paul Jubb. The Australian is still not happy though chatting with the umpire, himself and anyone who would listen.

  11. Ruse breaks Gauffpublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Gauff 0-1 Ruse*

A few too many errors from Coco Gauff, particularly on the forehand side, and it hands Elena-Gabriela Ruse a break to love first up.

  12. GB's Swan stays in touchpublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    *Kostyuk 4-6 6-4 4-3 Swan

Katie Swan is doing her best to stay in touch with Marta Kostyuk.

The Ukrainian went an early break up in the decider but Swan has managed to keep herself within touching distance.

  13. Fears and questions after withdrawalspublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Jonathan Jurejko
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

The withdrawals of Matteo Berrettini and Marin Cilic after contracting coronavirus raises questions - and fears - about the possibility of the virus ripping through the tournament.

Players do not have to test routinely at Wimbledon this year, which is back at full capacity for the whole tournament after some restrictions were still in place in 2021.

In line with national guidelines, there are no requirements for wearing masks or isolating either.

But Covid-19 infections are continuing to rise in the UK, according to figures from the Office for National Statistics published on Saturday.

The data suggested about 1.7 million people were estimated to have Covid in the week ending 18 June.

  14. Watch Murray's underarm servepublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

With Nick Kyrgios in action, you always have to look for a potential underarm serve.

We saw one yesterday and below you can watch Andy Murray's effort against James Duckworth in the first round at Wimbledon.

We could hear the cheers from court 12 which greeted Ryan Peniston’s debut Wimbledon victory moments ago here on court three.

A fine start to the day for British players could be set to continue here. It’s early days of course, but Paul Jubb is playing a solid match and has Nick Kyrgios where he wants him.

The Australian launched a ball out of the stadium towards the end of that first set as his frustrations grew - but he manages to avoid a further setback as he saves three break points to hold, and stay in front in set two.

  16. Johnson next for Penistonpublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Peniston 6-4 6-3 6-2 Laaksonen

It's Steve Johnson next up for Britain's Ryan Peniston after the American progressed to the second round earlier today.

Johnson is 93rd in the world but got to the last 16 at Wimbledon in 2016 before losing to Roger Federer.

Today, Johnson was playing 18th seed Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria and was a set down before Dimitrov had to withdraw because of injury.

Nick's got to find a bit of energy here. I don't think he's flat but he's struggling to find the centre of the racquet with the conditions. You can see the wind blustering around.

    Gauff v Ruse

Coco Gauff said in her news conference a few days ago that she will play in the mixed doubles - but she didn't mention who it would be with.

"I don't know if he wants me to say or not. I did mention it in a TikTok comment, like a hint," she said.

"Maybe whoever is watching this can go look and find that comment (laughter).

"But, yeah, actually I'll ask if he wants for me to say or not. For me, it's fine. But, yeah, I don't know. Sorry."

Gauff's TikTok clue was "his last name is the same as an article of clothing..." - and there's an American player that fits that bill.

    Gauff v Ruse

Coco Gauff has just come out on Court Two to take on Elena-Gabriela Ruse in her opener.

The young American has used her platform a number of times to address major social issues.

She sat down with BBC Sport to discuss the US Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v Wade - meaning abortion is no longer a constitutional right in America.

  20. Game and first set - Jubbpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 28 June 2022

    Jubb 6-3 Kyrgios

A fantastic start from Paul Jubb over on court three. He produces a very solid first set to take the opener from Australian Nick Kyrgios, who was saying at the weekend he didn't mind being the "villain" when facing the British wildcard. At the moment, 22-year-old Jubb is writing his own superhero story.
