  5. Hewett closing inpublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 7 July 2022

    Reid 2-6 6-3 3-5 Hewett*

Three winners in a row from Alfie Hewett have taken him one game away from defeating doubles team-mate Gordon Reid.

The world number two trailed 15-30 but a flurry of forehand winners see him hold serve for a 5-3 lead.

But could there be another twist to come in this match?

  6. Nadal to have scan on injurypublished at 13:34 British Summer Time 7 July 2022

Looking ahead to tomorrow's men's semi-finals briefly, Rafael Nadal will have a scan on an abdominal injury before his match against Nick Kyrgios.

The issue almost forced him to retire in his quarter-final and the 36-year-old said after: "[Retiring] is something that I hate to do. So I just keep trying, and that's it."

The TV cameras have picked up Nadal arriving on site today, so he's around at least.

  7. 'Biggest challenge yet for Maria'published at 13:34 British Summer Time 7 July 2022

    Jabeur v Maria (13:30 BST)

    Caroline Wozniacki
Former world number one on BBC TV

It really is a fairy-tale for Tatjana Maria - I think if you'd told her before the tournament she'd make the semi-finals on Centre Court with the opportunity to make the final she'd be really happy with that.

She's been playing really well and yes, she's been down a few times in this tournament and found her way around it but today will be her biggest challenge yet.

  8. 'I'm a fighter' - Mariapublished at 13:33 British Summer Time 7 July 2022

    Jabeur v Maria (13:30 BST)

Prior to this week, Maria's best run in the singles at a Grand Slam was reaching the Wimbledon third round in 2015 and she was ranked outside the top 250 as early as March, having returned from maternity leave last July.

Third seed Jabeur is the highest-ranked player she's faced at this year's Wimbledon so far, but Maria has seen off some big names on her way to the semi-final.

The 34-year-old beat fifth seed Maria Sakkari in straight sets in the third round, before coming from behind to beat 12th seed Jelena Ostapenko in the fourth.

"I guess there are a lot of people who never believed I would come back," Maria said.

"It's a little bit my life to show everybody that I'm still here and I'm a fighter, and I keep going and I keep dreaming."

Here we go. First Grand Slam semi-final time.

Both Ons Jabeur and Tatjana Maria are all business as they walk through the historic halls of Centre Court before stepping out to meet the crowd.

Jabeur keeps one headphone in and closes her eyes as she soaks up the applause, with an all-smiling Maria following behind.

A warm but slightly overcast day in SW19. Roof open and expecting that to be the case all day.

The traditional warm round of applause as the ball kids race out, followed by another when the line judges file in.

  11. Jabeur has added 'maturity and belief'published at 13:25 British Summer Time 7 July 2022

    Jabeur v Maria (13:30 BST)

Ons Jabeur is the highest-ranked player left in the women's draw, having moved up gradually over the past few years.

The 27-year-old Tunisian won the biggest title of her career so far at Madrid in March and has dropped just one set on her way to the Wimbledon last four.

"Her personality and what she brings to our sport is great," former world number one Kim Clijsters told BBC Sport.

"Ons has always been very talented but I think she's added a maturity to her game and a belief that is so much fun to watch."

  12. Drama in the doubles - again!published at 13:22 British Summer Time 7 July 2022

    *Salisbury/Ram 1-1 Ebden/Purcell

Some early drama in the men's doubles semi-finals on Court One.

Joe Salisbury sprints to reach a drop shot and just gets there - or does he?

Aussie opponent Max Purcell is convinced the ball hit the floor for a second time - so he catches the ball as it comes over the net and the umpire gives the point to the British/American pair.

Purcell is not happy at all but the Australian pairing hold serve from 0-15.

Controversy is following Salisbury and Ram around a bit at the moment - they wanted Hawk-Eye turned off after what they were certain was an errant call in their quarter-final.

  13. Hewett breakspublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 7 July 2022

    Reid 2-6 6-3 2-3 Hewett*

Gordon Reid and Alfie Hewett are deep into a deciding set as they battle for a place in the semi-finals of the men's wheelchair singles competition.

The pair will be teaming up as they bid for a record-extending 11th consecutive Grand Slam doubles title later this week.

But, for today, they are very much on-court rivals.

Reid levelled the match after second seed Hewett took the first set, but he's just fallen behind in the third as Hewett eventually manages to take his fourth break point for a 3-2 lead. Is that the decisive blow?

  14. 'Extraordinary' Mariapublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 7 July 2022

    Jabeur v Maria (13:30 BST)

The only mother to win Wimbledon in the Open era is Australian Evonne Goolagong Cawley, who lifted the title in 1980 three years after giving birth to her daughter.

Maria's family have been with her throughout the Championships and she takes daughter Charlotte to a tennis lesson every morning in an attempt to keep things as normal as possible.

"What Maria's been able to achieve as a mother of two, coming back only a year after giving birth, that is extraordinary in itself," former Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli told BBC Sport.

"She might not win the Championships but it's a massive round of applause and a lot of appreciation for her. Her story is beautiful."

In case you haven't seen this yet, Charlotte gave her mum a grilling before her quarter-final.

Wimbledon semi-finalist Ons Jabeur has been doing BBC Sport columns throughout the tournament and her latest one is all about her friendship with Tatjana Maria - her opponent, BBQ buddy and a mother-of-two.

The third seed from Tunisia tells how she loves playing with Maria's two girls and has even been asking the eldest Charlotte for advice on how to beat her mum.

Jabeur also talks about the possibility of being a tennis mum herself.

"I could see myself having a baby & coming back to play... but not yet!" says Ons.

    Jabeur v Maria (13:30 BST)

Friends will become rivals on Centre Court today.

Ons Jabeur calls Tatjana Maria her "barbecue buddy," and has spent time with the German's family during the Championships.

"I was joking with [Maria's eldest daughter] Charlotte - I was telling her, 'are you going to support me or your mum?'," she said.

"I'm trying to turn all the kids to my side. I'm really happy for her that she's getting what she deserves.

"It's going to be a great match between us, a lot of respect, for sure."

  18. Salisbury semi kicks off Court One actionpublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 7 July 2022

    Salisbury/Ram 0-0 Ebden/Purcell (13:00 BST)

It's also a huge day for Britain's Joe Salisbury in his quest to lift a Wimbledon doubles title for the first time.

The 30-year-old - ranked the world number one doubles player - and American partner Rajeev Ram face Australian duo Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell in the men's doubles semi-finals first up on Court One.

Ram and Salisbury are two-time Grand Slam champions after winning the 2020 Australian Open - beating Purcell and Luke Saville - and the 2021 US Open but have never reached the Wimbledon final.

Salisbury did reach a Wimbledon final last year, as he and Harriet Dart finished runners-up in the mixed doubles, but his two previous men's doubles semis in 2018 and 2021 have ended in defeat.

Purcell and Ebden beat Salisbury and Ram in the Australian Open semis earlier this year - "We didn't play very well in that match so it's nice to get another chance to play against them," said Salisbury.

There is going to be at least one first-time Grand Slam finalist in Saturday's Championship decider.

Third seed Ons Jabeur, playing good friend Tatjana Maria first on Centre, is bidding to become the first Arab to reach a major final.

Maria, like Jabeur, is playing in her first Grand Slam semi-final today having returned to the tour a year ago after having her second daughter.

Simona Halep won Wimbledon in 2019 and the French Open in 2018, making her the only major champion left in the women's draw.

Halep plays Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina, who is the youngest player left at 23 and is also in her first Grand Slam semi-final.
