It's not much fun for Tatjana Maria out there right now.

Ons Jabeur's drop-shot falls completely flat and the German does all the running for none of the winning as she goes 15-30 down on her serve.

She hits the ball out on the next point and goes two break points down.

Ons Jabeur hits her lines perfectly over on the right, but misses as she swings back to the other side of the court to bring up deuce.

She claims her hold anyway as Tatjana Maria bats the ball into the net next, then Jabeur sends the German scampering into the bottom-left corner before tapping the ball into the open court.

You feel like sometimes you're on a roll, Ons Jabeur needs to get her first-serve percentage up a bit and her break points. But other than that she had five more winners than Tatjana Maria in that set.

When Maria can get that first serve in she can lead the rally - it's a difficult match for Maria at the moment.

Jabeur is reading Maria's serve really well.

Former Wimbledon champion Kim Clijsters has been speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra about Rafa Nadal's abdominal tear:

I went through something similar here. I started with a really small tear at the start of the tournament, but because it was my last Wimbledon I wanted to play and I was able to win.

But after every match I went to see the doctors, they did the ultrasound, they saw the tear get bigger match by match, it got bigger and bigger to a point eventually where you become unable to deal with it and unable to play with it.

It’s only something that affects the serve and the overheads – you are fine hitting your forehands and backhands but it’s the serve so I think Rafa is not going to do any serves today.

BBC Radio 5 Live commentator David Law has been watching Rafael Nadal on Wimbledon's practice courts:

Nadal is out there, hitting balls at the moment with Marc Lopez, who is part of his team.

We’ve been told he’s got this 7mm tear in his abdominals, that’s been reported this morning from a scan.

Funnily enough to my left we’ve got Novak Djokovic going through his practice routine – he looks absolutely fine. It's ironic that about 15, 16 months ago Djokovic, also in a match against Taylor Fritz that went five sets, had an abdominal tear.

He reported after the tournament that his was quite a lot bigger – it was 17mm long, it grew to over 20mm, 25mm.

He actually referenced back to a match that Nadal played in 2009 at the US Open where he had a 9mm abdominal tear – similar kind of length to this one – but he said after his match against Juan Martin del Potro in the semi-finals it grew to 27mm. It was three times as large after the match and he said in hindsight ‘not a good decision’.

So we will see what Rafael Nadal decides to do – but he is here and he is practising.

Rafael Nadal has arrived at Wimbledon and is practising out on Aorangi Park.

His serve was one of the areas most visibly affected by his abdominal injury yesterday, with first serves rolling in at about 95mph.

He said in his post-match news conference that he was not willing to jeopardise his health in pursuit of a calendar Grand Slam, adding: "[There is] something more important than winning Wimbledon, that is health."

What a point! What a moment!

Ons Jabeur's 360-degree turn after hitting a drop-shot in the previous game got the Centre Court crowd in a spin.

She loves to entertain the crowd, saying she always want to form a connection with the fans

So far, the world number two is doing that after a very decent first set.

It's quite straightforward for Ons Jabeur in the end.

Tatjana Maria goes long again and the third seed wraps up the first set in 38 minutes.

Maria goes long and Jabeur has three chances to wrap this first set up.

A perfect time for Jabeur's first ace of the match.

Then she follows it up with her second to go 30-0 up. Two points from taking the set.

Jabeur peppers Maria with powerful shots and that's the double break.

She'll serve for the set next.

What a rally!

Both players come to the net and Tatjana Maria puts in a stunner of a drop-shot and Ons Jabeur can only bat the ball into the net.

Despite all that brilliance, a forehand wide brings up another break point for Jabeur.

Tatjana Maria is starting to step onto the forehand a bit more and be more aggressive so the backhand will then be more accurate when she slices it.

Ons Jabeur is getting a lot of the small steps in which makes it easier for her to change direction whenever she needs to.

The Tunisian keeps her lead.

The sun has broken out of the clouds on Centre Court, but that doesn't bother Ons Jabeur as she slaps down a smash to win the opening point on her serve.

She wins another, but then seems to think Maria's lob is heading out and is caught off guard as it lands perfectly on the line. 30-15.

An excellent serve from Tatjana Maria finally brings the deuces to an end.

Maria pounces on a forehand mid-court and Jabeur can only watch the ball fly past her.

The third seed plays pretty much a mirror of that shot on the next point and we're back to deuce again.

Jabeur looks to the skies after she appears to go for a drop-shot on the serve return and messes it up badly. But another Maria mishit brings up the third deuce of the game.

Onwards...

It looks like Maria has put in some stellar work at the net - and she has to be fair - but that's not enough to put Jabeur off balance.

The Tunisian comes forwards to prove she can do it too and bangs the ball down out of Maria's reach.

The German bamboozles her opponent with a load of spin to get to 40-30, but hits the ball out on the next point and it's deuce again.

It's a tight battle so far, this one.
