    Jabeur 6-2 3-5 Maria*

After a bit of back and forward at deuce, Jabeur claims a stylish hold.

Maria comes forward and it looks like her cross-court volley might be a winner but Jabeur bats another backhand winner away to hold off the German for now.

Maria will serve for the set next.

  3. Set point Mariapublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 7 July 2022

    *Jabeur 6-2 2-5 Maria

    Wow.

There was a brief dip in level from Ons Jabeur but she is well and truly back.

The third seed bats a backhand off the floor carelessly away, hardly looking at it, and it lands sublimely out of Maria's reach.

Maria still manages to pull it back to 30-30 and Jabeur's forehand then goes into the net to give the German set point.

It's a fun match to watch you don't know what to expect. The momentum has really shifted - Tatjana Maria is just anticipating the ball a bit better, she's cut down her unforced errors and slowed down the pace of play and been able to get more unforced errors out of Ons Jabeur.

Maria will be pleased with how this is playing out, her first serve is being played really well - fast, accurate and that's what makes it tricky.

  5. Maria one game awaypublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 7 July 2022

    *Jabeur 6-2 2-5 Maria

Ons Jabeur fights to 30-30 on Tatjana Maria's serve and she later threatens to take it to deuce too but the Tunisian cannot find a winner in a lengthy rally.

Instead, it's another hold for Maria and she's one game away from taking this to a deciding third set.

Everyone is on their feet on Court One after Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram go two sets up after dominating the tie-break.

They sealed the set with a stunning Ram return off the Purcell serve, which the Australian could not get back over the net.

Salisbury and Ram need just one more set to reach their first Wimbledon men's doubles final!

What a point to grab a mini-break for Salisbury and Ram in the first point of the tie-break! All four players at the net volleying for all they are worth in a rally that seriously tested the reflexes and was quicker than a table tennis rally.

    "Come Ons!"

That's the regular shout heard on Centre between points.

Jabeur was looking Onstoppable as she chases WimbledOns but Maria has now puts her Ons the back foot.

    Sorry.

    Jabeur 6-2 1-3 Maria*

How did Jabeur get out of that one?!

It looks like Maria has her on the ropes, with the Tunisian figthing to get out of the bottom-right corner.

But Jabeur somehow finds a cross-court winner to keep herself in Maria's service game.

A hold to love is exactly what Rajeev Ram needed at 4-5, with Salisbury so threatening at the net with his cross-court volleys.

There was a rumbling in the crowd when they put the Australians under pressure at 30-30 on the Ebden serve in the next game but there was nothing they could do with Purcell's powerful volley.

Now Salisbury needs to hold to take it to a tie-break.

Usually players wait until the crowd has calmed down before they serve but not Ons Jabeur, she's always ready to go.

    Jabeur 6-2 1-3 Maria*

    Well this is interesting.

It felt like all the momentum was with Jabeur but Maria suddenly puts the brakes on that.

An excellent drop-shot catches Jabeur out and the German is on top in this second set.

  18. Break point Mariapublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 7 July 2022

    *Jabeur 6-2 1-2 Maria

Does Ons Jabeur have somewhere else she needs to be?

She's up out of her chair and back on the baseline ready to serve in the blink of an eye.

The third seed knows immediately that her attempted backhand slice is no good and looks at the floor as she goes 15-30 down.

She then slaps a forehand wide and it's Maria's chance to get a break now.

  19. Maria holdspublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 7 July 2022

    *Jabeur 6-2 1-2 Maria

A lengthy - and nervy - rally ends as Jabeur bats the ball long and Maria congratulates herself with a well-deserved pump of the fist.

Jabeur is backed into a corner on the next point and can't get the ball back in court to give Maria what feels like a very important hold.
