  1. A worrying momentpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 1-0 Jarry*

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

A worrying slip on the turf at the back of the court for Alcaraz, who unintentionally does the splits. After dusting himself down, he gently gets himself back to his feet and is thankfully OK to continue.

  2. Fucsovics holdspublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Medvedev 4-6 6-3 6-4 3-2 Fucsovics

Valliant hold from Marton Fucsovics who livened up as the game went on.

Can his right foot sustain this fourth set? Can the world number 67 take this third round match into a fifth set?

  3. Two break points saved by Jarrypublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 1-0 Jarry*

A Carlos Alcaraz forehand to the feet of Nicolas Jarry yields the Spaniard a break point early in set three but the Chilean has more joy at the net in the following exchange, a neatly dispatched serve-volley saving it.

Alcaraz earns another but that's met by a crushing serve out wide that he can only return into the net.

Then a brief moment of concern as a slip almost causes Alcaraz to do the splits - he's uncomfortable for a minute but gestures he's OK to his opponent.

  4. Fucsovics taken to deucepublished at 15:53 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Medvedev 4-6 6-3 6-4 3-1 Fucsovics*

Marton Fucsovics goes down 0-30 and is limping between points. However, the Hungarian steps up his intensity and is only a crafty Medvedev lob away from holding his serve.

We're in deuce but Marton Fucsovics is moving a lot better.

    Djere 2-2 Tsitsipas*

    Jess Anderson
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

I’m on court two where Stefanos Tsitsipas, who knocked out Andy Murray around 24 hours ago, is taking on Laslo Djere of Serbia.

But, all I can hear is the noise coming from court 12, where American Tommy Paul and Czech player Jiri Lehecka are into a fourth set. There seem to be a few chaps who have taken to a bit of singing between games over there. Probably a couple of fruit juices deep.

  6. How does Alcaraz respond?published at 15:50 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 1-0 Jarry*

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

We're already past the two-hour mark and it's hot and sweaty in the Wimbledon Centre Court greenhouse, with the roof closed.

A number of spectators are waving hand-held fans to keep themselves cool, but as the roof was closed at the start of the match, it won't be reopened until the end of it.

How will Carlos Alcaraz respond to losing his first set in eight played this tournament? A quick hold of serve is a good start.

  7. Medvedev holdspublished at 15:50 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Medvedev 4-6 6-3 6-4 3-1 Fucsovics*

Daniil Medvedev holds serve with little challenge from Hungarian Marton Fucsovics who has received a medical time out for a right foot injury.

The world number 67 now steps up to serve where we'll get a better idea of what sort of shape he is in.

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 1-0 Jarry*

We're over two hours into this match already - and only two sets have been completed.

Well, two sets and one game, as Carlos Alcaraz opens set three with a solid hold.

  9. A tie-break that had everythingpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) Jarry

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

What a tie-break, it had everything and Jarry takes it to become the first man at this year's Wimbledon to take a set off the world number one.

Jarry, 6ft 6in, found incredible consistency on his first serve, with one rocket at 130mph, another at 129mph, with another two at 128mph.

Alcaraz had produced a lovely lob when Jarry was stranded at the net, before an absolutely gorgeous forehand winner from the baseline, a real piece of art, gave him a set point for a two set to love lead.

But he couldn't take it as his forehand while sprinting was sent wide, before Jarry took the breaker to make it a set apiece.

  10. Medical time out for Fucsovicspublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Medvedev 4-6 6-3 6-4 2-1 Fucsovics

Marton Fucsovics seems to have hurt his foot during the last game.

The trainer is now spraying the Hungarian's right foot and strapping it up with tape worthy of the pharaohs of old.

  11. 'Alcaraz will have to dig deep'published at 15:43 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) Jarry

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

Alcaraz just has to make this guy earn as many points as possible, and make as few mistakes as possible.

This is now a real mental test for him. So much expected from Alcaraz.

He will have to dig deep from the well again.

  12. 'Magnificent set from Jarry'published at 15:41 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) Jarry

    Simon Reed
    BBC Sport commentator

Jarry's got it. And doesn't he deserve it. Magnificent set and terrific from Nicholas Jarry - and you can hear the buzz about the place.

  13. Game and first set - Runepublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Rune 6-3 1-1 Davidovich Fokina

Danish sixth seed Holger Rune is up and running against Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina out on court three.

The 20-year-old, who is in the same quarter of the draw as men's top seed Carlos Alcaraz, takes the first set 6-3.

Rune is aiming to reach the last 16 for the first time at the All England Club.

  14. Medvedev breakspublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Medvedev 4-6 6-3 6-4 2-1 Fucsovics

It's another gruelling service game for Marton Fucsovics and the Hungarian does well to stay with Daniil Medvedev in some long rallies.

In the end, the third seed finally breaks after a lengthily deuce.

The trainer is out for the world number 67 and looks to be attending to Fucsovics' right foot.

  15. Game and second set - Jarrypublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) Jarry*

Alcaraz can only send a return wide and now it's a set point for Nicolas Jarry to level the match.

    And he takes it!

A massive forehand return sets the platform for the Chilean and, after a couple more similarly big hits, Alcaraz yields and hits the net. Level at one set apiece.

  16. Postpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-6 (6-6) Jarry*

A very tough running forehand goes wide from the world number one. A chance but only a slim one.

  17. Set point Alcarazpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-6 (6-5) Jarry*

Carlos Alcaraz attacks the Jarry second serve with a deep backhand return but follows up with a forehand that goes out with snow on it.

Still on serve. First chance for Jarry as he reaches a drop shot but is beaten by an Alcaraz lob so good that the Chilean doesn't even bother to turn round to see if it's in.

Forehand winner follows it and the first set point of this tie-break goes to the Spaniard...

Serve is still a dominant factor in this tie-break.

  19. Postpublished at 15:35 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-6 (4-3) Jarry*

And respond, Alcaraz does. The serves are not quite as fast as Jarry's but just as effective.

Who's going to blink first here?

  20. Tsitsipas back in actionpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Tsitsipas 1-0 Djere*

Greek fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas is back out on court for a fifth successive day in the men's singles, having ended Andy Murray's hopes yesterday in an epic five-set victory that was suspended late on Thursday.

He's up against Serb Laslo Djere in the third round, taking the first game with a confident love hold on court two.
