  1. Alcaraz holds to lovepublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 5-2 Jarry*

Carlos Alcaraz whacks down an ace for a hold to love and Nicolas Jarry, all of a sudden, looks a bit forlorn out there.

Might well he do so, too - he knows this set is slipping away from him and the 6ft 6in Chilean has never won a five-setter, losing all four of the matches he's played that have gone the distance.

  2. game, set and match

Game, set and match Medvedevpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Medvedev 4-6 6-3 6-4 6-4 Fucsovics

Third seed Daniil Medvedev comes back from a set down to reach the fourth round of Wimbledon, equalling his best result at SW19.

It was a match played under the roof and filled with powerful hitting from both players, their thunderous shots echoing around Court One.

The former world number one will play the winner of Jiri Lehecka and Tommy Paul for a spot in the quarter-finals.

  3. Game and first set - Tsitsipaspublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Tsitsipas 6-4 Djere

Stefanos Tsitsipas strikes late in the first set to take the opener on court two, breaking Laslo Djere's serve at last in the 10th game to take it 6-4.

The fifth seed could today equal his best ever run at Wimbledon, becoming the first Greek player, man or woman, to reach the last 16 at Wimbledon on multiple occasions.

He's off to a very good start indeed, despite the tiredness he must be feeling after a very busy first week at the All England Club.

  4. Jarry hits the roof on Centrepublished at 16:15 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 4-2 Jarry

Nicolas Jarry has just hit the roof.

No, he's not angry - well, he probably is, with the way this third set is going - he's literally hit the roof on Centre Court with one of the biggest ballooned shots you'll ever see.

Still wins the game for a welcome hold, mind.

  5. Fucsovics holdspublished at 16:13 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Medvedev 4-6 6-3 6-4 5-4 Fucsovics

As we reach the three hour mark in this third round match, Marton Fucsovics saves two match points and plays some swashbuckling tennis to win the game from deuce.

The Hungarian had to hit three powerful smashes at the net to finally beat Daniil Medvedev on advantage point and at the change of ends, the crowd stand and cheer the world number 67 in appreciation for his efforts.

Medvedev will serve for the match next.

  6. Alcaraz regains controlpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 4-1 Jarry*

After losing the second set tie-breaker, it hasn't taken many games for Carlos Alcaraz to regain his control of this match.

A sublime passing shot with Jarry at the net made it 0-30 and Alcaraz realised this was his chance, letting out a huge roar.

The world number one then earned two break points as a rising forehand from Jarry finds the net, before the Chilean sent another forehand long.

Alcaraz then backed up the break with a hold to 15, sealing it with an angled ace, to put a three-game gap between the two in the third set.

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 4-1 Jarry*

A comfortable hold to 15 for the top seed. The only aberration a double fault - just Alcaraz's second of the match - but he quickly wipes the memory of that with an ace, his 10th today, to move two games away from the set.

  8. Fucsovics saves match pointspublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Medvedev 4-6 6-3 6-4 5-3 Fucsovics*

World number 67 Marton Fucsovics is still in this!

The Hungarian saves Daniil Medvedev's first match point with a cracking forehand down the line winner, and the second with a deft pick-up volley at the net which the third seed can't get to in time.

Yep, here's the chance as Jarry hits a weak one into the net.

And Alcaraz capitalises! Some excellent defensive work keeps him in the rally before the Chilean goes too big - and that's the break the world number one wanted.

    Medvedev 4-6 6-3 6-4 5-3 Fucsovics*

From 0-30 down and 30-40 down, Daniil Medvedev survives and holds, his serve doing the damage.

One Medvedev smash at the net even hits the BBC TV commentary box. Commentator Andrew Castle compares the ball mark left on the window to something a pigeon left on his back door at home...

  13. Postpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 2-1 Jarry*

Is this the moment for Carlos Alcaraz?

Bit of a lucky mis-hit return leads to Jarry going long on the opening point and then the Spaniard fizzes a fantastic forehand past his opponent to go 0-30 up.

  14. Djere denies Tsitsipaspublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Tsitsipas 4-4 Djere

A first break point comes and goes for Stefanos Tsitsipas as he searches for a breakthrough against Laslo Djere on court two.

The Greek fifth seed is denied by a forehand winner from the Serb, who copes with the pressure to hold for 4-4 in the first set.

  15. 'Still a lot of work to be done'published at 16:02 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 2-1 Jarry*

    Simon Reed
    BBC Sport commentator

The pressure has not lessened on Alcaraz. No sign of Jarry getting mentally fatigued in what could be the defining match of his career.

Alcaraz knows there is still a lot of work to be done.

  16. Change of tactic?published at 16:02 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 2-1 Jarry*

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Has Alcaraz found a tactic to exploit? In successive points he uses drop shots to bring his opponent into the net, winning the point both times and taking Jarry out of his comfort zone, before unleashing an ace for the hold.

  17. Fucsovics holdspublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Medvedev 4-6 6-3 6-4 4-3 Fucsovics

An easier hold this time for Marton Fucsovics whose right foot doesn't seem to be bothering him that much now.

The Hungarian needs to break Daniil Medvedev in one of the third seed's next two service games though otherwise he's out of this year's Championships.

  18. Postpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 2-1 Jarry*

A deep ball stays low for Carlos Alcaraz and he can only swat it into the net as he goes from 30-0 to 30-30 but a couple of big serves, including an ace, avert any further danger.

  19. Medvedev holdspublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    Medvedev 4-6 6-3 6-4 4-2 Fucsovics*

They always say it's never easy playing an injured opponent and Marton Fucsovics proved it there.

Daniil Medvedev is 30-0 up but the Hungarian wins two points in a row, the latter a smash at the net which he has to scuttle a few feet back to reach and the winner energises the crowd

The third seed though wins the next two points, punctuating both with cries of 'Allez!'.

  20. Jarry holdspublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 8 July 2023

    *Alcaraz 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 1-1 Jarry

Double fault at game point from Jarry - but replays show it clipped the line. The Chilean didn't challenge, having already burned one of his three reviews per set shortly beforehand.

It ultimately proves irrelevant as Jarry puts away a smash to hold serve, having faced two break points. He's saved five of the seven break points Alcaraz has earned in this match.
