    *Swiatek 6-7 (4-7) 5-6 Bencic

The clock ticks towards the two-hour mark. It certainly could go on a whole lot longer.

Having initially struggled, Bencic is now enjoying some nice, incident-free games of her own, although an unwelcome double fault opens the door ever so slightly for Swiatek at 30-15.

The 14th seed presses on however, again moving within one game of a memorable straight-set success.

Elina Svitolina blinks first. Four break points come and go - and she hits two long forehands to cede the game.

  3. Fourth break point savedpublished at 19:19 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    *Azarenka 6-2 3-4 Svitolina

    That's ridiculous, Victoria Azarenka.

The 33-year-old is on the defensive but picks out a wonderful passing shot to beat Elina Svitolina at the net and save yet another break point. What a big game this is.

What an impressive service game (from Swiatek). And a little relief.

  6. Swiatek holds servepublished at 19:17 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Swiatek 6-7 (4-7) 5-5 Bencic*

What terrific Sunday evening viewing this has been for the captivated Centre Court crowd.

The neutrals among them - and us - only want this to continue for as long as possible.

Iga Swiatek does her bit to ensure it does for now, bagging another hold of serve with expert efficiency and minimal fuss.

Svitolina has been knocking at the door for a while, creating more opportunities for herself. She has started swinging that bit more and it is working in her favour.

  8. Azarenka saves three break pointspublished at 19:16 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    *Azarenka 6-2 3-4 Svitolina

Victoria Azarenka is having a few problems with her ball toss as well, not cutting quite the assured figure she did in set one.

One thing she's not having trouble with, however, is the net cord, as it helps a drop shot keep even lower to go from 0-30 to 40-30.

Elina Svitolina is unperturbed, rolling out some massive forehands but despite earning three break points, Azarenka saves all three. Back to deuce in this marathon game.

There is a real hum of anticipation on Centre Court now as the players get up from their chairs ... are we about to see a big upset?

It's getting tense on court two!

Neither pair have managed to take the other's serve yet in this deciding set so we'll be heading to a tie-break if Boulter and De Minaur can hold this serve.

What intelligent tennis. The Olympic champion is finding her best tennis out here.

Of course Bencic deserves an awful lot of credit for how she has gone about this, but especially for how she has responded to falling a break behind right at the start of this second set.

She's gained a lot of confidence from those first set escapes and is really thriving under the pressure on Centre Court, this time wriggling free from 30-30 with a brilliantly taken volley.

A break of serve here and victory is hers. Easier said than done, however.

  13. 'People's Sundays were great'published at 19:13 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    *Azarenka 6-2 3-4 Svitolina

    Martina Navratilova
Nine-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

People's Sundays were great for the players that were playing on the big courts. The crowd was pretty rowdy, much more rowdy than usual. It was brilliant.

  14. 'Swiatek hungry and motivated'published at 19:12 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Swiatek 6-7 (4-7) 4-4 Bencic*

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC Radio 5 live

It has got that edgy feel to it and you feel Swiatek is not going to roll over easily in this match. She is far too hungry and motivated.

  15. 'Iga will need to dig her heels in'published at 19:10 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Swiatek 6-7 (4-7) 4-4 Bencic*

    Tracy Austin
Two-time Grand Slam champion on BBC TV

This is going to be one of these days for Iga where she is not feeling comfortable with her game. Some of that is to do with Bencic, some is the surface. She needs to dig her heels in and get more returns back in play.

  16. Swiatek holds servepublished at 19:10 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Swiatek 6-7 (4-7) 4-4 Bencic*

We thought this might be the first real test for Iga Swiatek this week.

That is absolutely proving to be the case - and some.

The top seed lost just 13 games across her first three matches at the All England Club this year. Bencic has 11 behind her so far today.

Her opponent has been playing at such a consistently high level and this would feel like a huge victory for Swiatek in every sense if she can figure out a way to turn it around. She gets back on track with an ace settling a hold to 15.

  17. Postpublished at 19:09 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    *Azarenka 6-2 3-4 Svitolina

Is Victoria Azarenka getting a little hot under the collar here?

She's asking the ballboys and ballgirls to only keep balls in one corner of the court when she requests them for her service games.

A double fault and unforced error suggest she needs to focus on her game and not where the balls are. It's 0-30.

  20. Holds exchanged on Court Onepublished at 19:07 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    *Azarenka 6-2 3-4 Svitolina

Bit of bother safely negotiated by Elina Svitolina from 30-30 as she stays patient and Victoria Azarenka twice goes narrowly long to hand the Ukrainian the hold of serve.

No problems for the Belarusian in the service game that preceded it.
