    Safiullin 3-6 6-3 6-1 6-3 Shapovalov

    Upset on court two!

Canadian 26th seed Denis Shapovalov, who knocked out Britain's Liam Broady in the previous round, falls in four sets to world number 92 Roman Safiullin.

The Russian fights back impressively from a set down to reach the quarter-finals in a little over two hours at a Grand Slam for the very first time.

The first man through to the last eight, he awaits the winner of the ongoing Court One match between Jannik Sinner and Daniel Elahi Galan.

Surely Jannik Sinner will take yet more chances to break Daniel Galan's serve this time? Can you believe the world number eight is 0-14 on his break point chances?

An hour and fifty minutes on, the Italian finally converts on his 15th attempt.

Galan has been looking fatigued - will this take all the energy out of the Colombian's legs?

    Rublev 7-5 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-7 (5-7) 2-2 Bublik*

Alexander Bublik's serve has been key to his comeback but Andrey Rublev has been close behind.

The seventh seed's serve has also been a big part of his success today and Bublik can't get a decent return in play.

    *Rublev 7-5 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-7 (5-7) 1-2 Bublik

At 40-30, Andrey Rublev runs to his right and plays a trademark forehand down the line accompanied with his grunt, sounding like a boxer hitting a punching bag in the gym.

The forehand looks like it might land on the line, but ultimately falls just wide and Alexander Bublik holds his serve.

  9. Shout out to the ball kidspublished at 16:37 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Jess Anderson
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Being sat on the smaller courts like court 12 and 18 where you’re right in the heart of the action really makes you appreciate the hard work of the ball kids.

It’s a well-oiled machine to keep supplying the players with balls and running them up and down the lines.

But how cool? In fact, I would very much like to have a go.

That should definitely be a thing - have a go at being a ball kid. Well, ball grown-up I suppose.

As you were on Court One.

Galan frames a forehand to bring Sinner to 15-30, but the Colombian does superbly to reach down and pick up a volley as he once again gets free and holds on to his second set advantage. Excellent recovery.

But Sinner stays close by with a straightforward game, ready to ask further questions of his opponent.

  14. A decider on Centre Courtpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Rublev 7-5 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-7 (5-7) 0-0 Bublik*

Who will make it into the quarter-finals for the first time at Wimbledon?

Andrey Rublev looked to have this match sewn up at two sets up and playing solid tennis.

Alexander Bublik has clung on though and raised his level, getting the better of the seventh seed in crucial moments in two tiebreaks.

Settle in for a fifth, ladies and gentlemen, this could get exciting...

  15. A painful loss or a fifth-set win for Rublev?published at 16:28 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Rublev 7-5 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-7 (5-7) Bublik*

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Alexander Bublik bounces high in the air, screams in the direction of his team and, somehow, has taken this into a fifth and deciding set.

If Rublev doesn't win this, it will be one of the most painful losses of his career.

He was two points away at 6-6 in the third set tie-break, failed to take two match points before the fourth set tie-break, then led 5-3 in the second breaker only to lose four points in a row and set up a one-set shootout.

Great character shown from Bublik, great entertainment for those on Centre Court.

  16. Sinner wasting his chancespublished at 16:25 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Sinner 7-6 (7-4) 2-3 Galan*

There is no denying Jannik Sinner is getting more than his fair share of opportunities to get a break back but the Italian lets a 40-0 lead slip away, and Galan holds on to his advantage, even though his levels have dropped significantly.

Sinner would do well to keep an eye on the increasingly weary body language of his opponent.

Alexander Bublik jumps in celebration and yells 'Let's go!' to his box as he wins another tie-break!

This fourth-round match is going into a fifth set after the 23rd seed wins another closely-contested tiebreak.

The Kazakh comes back from a mini-break down and then an unreturnable serve helps him win the fourth set.

  20. Bublik retrieves the mini-breakpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

    Rublev 7-5 6-3 6-7 (6-8) 6-6 (5-5) Bublik*

A rare rally breaks out in this match and Andrey Rublev can't handle a shot from Alexander Bublik in the middle of the court and he shanks a forehand wide.

The next point sees Rublev dive to the grass, ending the point on the ground after he fails to retrieve a Alexander Bublik low volley at the net.

    All square in the tiebreak.
