Play was televised at Wimbledon for the first time in 1937 (10 years after the first BBC radio broadcast) when matches were transmitted by the BBC from Centre Court for up to half an hour each day.

Two cameras were used, one at the south-east corner of the court, giving close-up views and the other in a fixed position at the other end of the court, providing a general view of the scene.

Now, there are more than 100 television cameras across the site, ranging from five on outside courts to 24 on Centre Court.

Last year, for the first time, every single match was televised during the fortnight of the Championships.

Cracking service game, a lovely drop shot, some good, strong serves. He's on the board in this third set but still has to find a break somewhere.

  4. You’re not having your ball backpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 9 July 2023

One great thing about Wimbledon is this used balls stand tucked behind court 12.

It’s part of Wimbledon’s sustainability plans but also a very cool idea.

Who knows, you could end up with the balls of Novak Djokovic, Iga Swiatek or Carlos Alcaraz.

I’ve heard plenty of parents buying them for their kids and telling a little fib - ‘of course this was Andy Murray’s ball’.

That would be pretty awesome, who knows whose you might end up with.

Andrey Rublev, on his superb win against Alexander Bublik, and the shot that gave him match point: "It was the most lucky shot ever! It was luck, nothing else. I don't think I can do it one more time.

"I was just thinking it doesn't matter, I lost the third set and fourth set. I said if I keep playing I would have one chance, and in the end I had it, played a really good volley and was able to break him.

"Every set I had chances, on match point he served full power. I kept thinking just keep playing, don't start to explode before the match is over. In the end I was able to make it."

On injuring his hand with a dive volley: "If I win the match and am in the quarter finals of course it is worth it!"
