Switzerland's Dominique Gisin, joint-gold medallist in the women's downhill, on BBC Two: "I didn't want to look at the big screens. It's crazy. There was a lot of nerves, a lot of sweat, lot of emotions. It was lonely there in the leader's box. It's incredible, how else can I say it. It's a big honour to share the gold with Tina, she's an amazing woman. This is awesome."

    Anna Thompson
    BBC Sport in Sochi

"I'm like a song on repeat but Great Britain's Lizzy Yarnold's preparations for these Games could not have gone any better. After five official training runs, she's been first four times and fourth once.

In today's fifth run, she was nearly half a second faster than anyone else. Her main rival to gold, the United States' Noelle Pikus-Pace has again elected not to train, which is an odd decision considering they only have six official runs and normally sliders want to take advantage of any training they can get.

There are murmurings of a back problem but the official line yesterday was that she wanted to spend time with family and friends. Well, they line up proper tomorrow with the first two competition runs and we'll start to know who is in form."
