    The women's relay is about to get under way in the cross-country. Norway are the favourites, led by four-time Olympic gold medallist Marit Bjoergen.

    Their biggest competition will come from Sweden, with Charlotte Kalla in their team. She has already taken two Olympic medals this year. The first two legs of the relay are skied classic and the final two are freestyle.

    Great Britain men's curlers get their bid for a sixth win in seven games under way shortly as David Murdoch's team take on Canada. Britain are in a three-way tie for the lead in the round-robin standings but will need to be at their best to see off the Vancouver 2010 gold medallists.

    The top four rinks after all 10 teams have played each other once will progress to the semi-finals.

    Three goals in five minutes have seen Slovenia take control of their Group A match against Slovakia in the men's ice hockey.

    Rok Ticar, Tomaz Razingar and Anze Kopitar all score to put Slovenia 3-0 up in the final period. Slovakia lost 7-1 to USA and could be heading out of the competition if they fail to win this game.

    BBC Sport commentator Seth Bennett says: "This will be an amazing victory for Slovenia."

    With all this talk of a Briton winning an Olympic medal, how must Elise Christie be feeling? On Thursday, in the ladies' 500m finals, Christie crossed the line in second place and looked to have won a silver medal.

    However, she was then penalised for causing a crash. Holding back the tears, she told BBC Sport: "I had the speed so I moved up, but I was hit on the foot and then hit everyone else."

    But the 23-year-old Scot now gets another chance to start her campaign that could end in a medal. She will be competing in the heats of the ladies' 1500m, which begins at 10:00 GMT.

    "For me, it is a big dream come true, it's the best day of my life," says Anna Fenninger, who is the third straight Austrian woman to win the Olympic super-G title after and Michaela Dorfmeister and Andrea Fischbacher.

    "The key was the last section to the finish. I have to thank my coaches because they gave us the right input on the radio."

    A total of 18 out of 49 skiers, including eight of the first 11, failed to make it down the testing 2.2km course.

    More than 100 iconic red postboxes were decorated to celebrate every Team GB and ParalympicsGB gold medal won during the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.

    However, Yarnold, 25, who comes from West Kingsdown, Kent, will not receive the same treatment.

    A Royal Mail spokesman said: "Royal Mail has no plans to paint a postbox gold in the hometown of Lizzy Yarnold or any other GB gold medal winner."

    There has been a goal in the ice hockey as Finland go 1-0 ahead in the women's quarter-final against Sweden.

    Finland, bronze medallists four years ago in Vancouver, move into the lead thanks to a goal from Venla Hovi.

    In the men's Group A clash between Slovakia and Slovenia, it remains 0-0 in the second period.

It was a shock to be told I was selected for skeleton bobsleigh on the Going4Gold programme. It took me a few years to stop becoming scared as every track is different.

    "When I first got involved in skeleton, I was working full-time, working in the city and training in the gyms. I needed to buy a sledge bag and I remember it was for £174.

    "I just couldn't afford it, so I put a jam jar on my desk saying I was raising money for it. A gentlemen in the office then came over to me, took an envelope out of his pocket and said, "I hope this is enough?". He was called Mervyn so I named my sledge after him. We've been friends ever since. I spoke to him yesterday."

    "I met Amy [Williams] five years ago, she was the kind of athlete who never gave up. I realised if I wanted to be an Olympic champion I had to strive to be as good as she has been and never give up.

    "After the race we went back to the food hall and had some slices of pizza. There are so many sacrifices you have to make as an athlete. I will be back in the gym next week. I'm an athlete, a dedicated athlete. - that's what I do. I would love to go to Korea in four years' time."

    Earlier today, Great Britain's women curlers fought back to beat South Korea 10-8 at the final end.

    The team of Eve Muirhead, Claire Hamilton, Anna Sloan and Vicki Adams suffered a jittery moment in the ninth end when South Korea snuck into an 8-7 lead, but held their nerve to secure victory with the final stone.

    After finishing 23rd in the women's super-G, Chemmy Alcott has been speaking to BBC Sport.

    She says: "I attacked it, but it's not like me to make big mistakes like that, that's why I'm gutted. Some risks pay off and in the downhill I took some risks and they paid off.

    "That's ski racing. I just wanted to come through that finish proud and say 'yep, I did my all'. There are some bits that I am proud of, but not all.

    "I really want to do the GS [giant slalom]. I really want another chance. I haven't had the all-clear, but I'm skiing well. I'm proud I took risks and proud I didn't ski pretty and still came down."
