Disgruntled looks all around in the media area as journalists realise Jamaica will be the last sled to go this evening, meaning a late finish for anyone who wants to speak to them after the race.

The top 20 ranked nations go in reverse order for the second run. So, leading Russian duo Alexander Zubkov and Alexey Voevoda go 20th, then those who were ranked 21-30 will start in that order.

It means Great Britain's Lamin Deen and John Baines will start 21st - straight after the leading Russia pair - and Jamaica will be the 30th, and final, nation to compete this evening.

Weather certainly changing here in Sochi. Not a clear night & a feeling of rain (rather than snow) in the air...

The second run of the of the two-man bobsleigh has started and Monaco get proceedings under way, setting a time of 57.04 seconds which undoubtedly will be bettered by many a team. Indeed, France's number one team, going second, do so with a time of 57.04 seconds.

Canadian Olympic champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir scored 76.33 in their short dance, which is just shy of their season's best despite the wild celebrations from Moir at the end of what looked a near-faultless routine.

That opens the door a little for world champions Meryl Davis and Charlie White of the US - who train alongside Virtue and Moir with the same coach, though you might not go as far as calling the four of them 'friends'. Ice dance gold is expected to be between these two couples tomorrow, and Davis and White probably have the edge on recent form.

If Great Britain's men beat China on Monday they could qualify for the semi-finals by right, or they could be in a tie - they could even lose and still qualify. Sweden have already qualified, and then three of China, Canada, Great Britain or Norway will take the other places. Any tie-break matches would take place on Tuesday.

If you think the men's competition is complicated, don't even think about the women's. There is one scenario on Monday that could see Great Britain's women lose both matches and we might see teams tied from fourth down to ninth place. I think the best thing we can say is - beat Russia and beat Denmark, and they know they're through.

Norway's men beat Switzerland 5-3 in Sunday's second session to join Britain on five wins and three defeats.

Why is a boy from Cardiff representing France in the figure skating? Well, when Jones was 18 his partner gave up the sport competitively and he had to look overseas to find a replacement, eventually moving to France where the sport has a larger following and more funding than the UK. "Once he had trained at the top centres abroad he knew he could not come back," said Jones's dad, Kevin.

"It's all he has ever wanted to do," said Dawn Jones, mother of Lloyd Jones, earlier this week. The 25-year-old, who also boxed for a while and learnt jujitsu, was twice British junior ice dance champion and a junior member of Team GB.

Welshman Lloyd Jones, skating under the French flag with his partner Pernelle Carron, has already secured his place in Monday's Free Dance final. Jones, a fluent French speaker and now a French citizen, is from Cardiff and went to the same high school as the world's most expensive footballer Gareth Bale and Lions and Wales rugby union captain Sam Warburton.

We're into the night's penultimate group in the short dance, with Penny Coomes and Nick Buckland due to go for Great Britain in the last group at around 18:15 GMT.

Coomes and Buckland want to push for a top-10 finish here (after Monday's free dance), having won European bronze last month. Their longer-term ambition is a medal at Pyeongchang 2018 and what happens here will help us figure out how realistic that looks.

Joint 21st for the British bobsleigh two-man pair of Lamin Deen and John Baines is not a bad first run. Although the pair have competed together on the World Cup circuit in the past, they haven't had much time to prepare for this event as Baines only came in to replace Craig Pickering last week.

Jamaica meanwhile will be disappointed with their opening run. They're last and while many people think of them as something as a 'fun' team they have the potential to be a top-20 ranked nation here.

What started off as a promising run for Jamaica turned out to be a disaster.

That's the first run of the two-man bobsleigh done and dusted and the Alexander Zubkov-led Russian team heads the standings with a 56.25-second run. United States 1 were 0.09 slower, while United States 2 are third and 0.20 seconds behind. Britain are equal 21st with the Netherlands, while the Jamaican team is 30th. There are only 30 teams competing but I haven't the heart say Winston Watts is last.

The second run of the two-man bob will start at 1750 GMT.

If you don't know the Cool Runnings story, because it was a long time ago now, in 1988 the Jamaicans turned out at the Winter Olympics with four top class sprint athletes in the bobsleigh. But they weren't even the highest placed Caribbean team. The Dutch Antilles were, so maybe the story should have been about them.

Winston Watts starts well but then seems to drive into some treacle and slows down to mobility scooter pace (though it's all relative) and takes 58.42 seconds to complete the course, which is 2.17 seconds slower than the leading Russians. Watts currently in last place with two teams to go.

That's frustrating. Still I thought it was a brilliant start and a very solid drive from Lamin Deen in his first Olympics. It's 50 years to the day since Great Britain got Olympic gold with another grenadier guardsman in the two-man - when Tony Nash with Robin Dixon won in 1964.

There have been some beautiful-looking bobsleighs on the Sochi ice and Belgium's two-woman team get the thumbs up for the use of metallic paint in the national colours. Anyway, there will be plenty of sunshine yellow on the ice soon because the Jamaican team are next.

Britain cross the line in 57.54 seconds, which is 1.29 seconds slower than the Russians, and that is currently good enough for 21st spot. Five teams remaining, including the Jamaicans.

Britain are on the ice and are merely 0.08 seconds adrift of the leading Russian team at the start but, as you expect, they fall further behind as they negotiate their way down the track.
