    Elise Christie has had a scheduled day off today and spent it with family and friends. Christie, who was penalised for the second time in Sochi in the 1500m, revealed in an emotional interview she had suffered cyber bullying after being relegated in the 500m final and a decision had been taken to close down her Twitter account.

    Stuart Horsepool, the short track performance director, said it was up to individual athletes whether they engaged with social media or not.

    But asked whether he believed Christie's mental resolve had been affected by the results and aftermath he said: "She's a tough cookie, she's got that Scottish grit."

    Christie, the 1000m 2013 World Cup champion, goes in the heats on Tuesday and is hoping to win Britain's first short track gold in an Olympics.

    Jorien Ter Mors takes gold in the 1500m as Netherlands dominate the event, with four Dutch competitors taking the top four spots.

    Ter Mors finished first in a time of one minute 53.51 seconds, with Ireen Wust second, Lotte Van Beekust third and Marrit Leenstra fourth.

    The favourite Ireen Wust is not going to win another gold medal in the 1500m after she failed to beat the time of team-mate Jorien Ter Mors.

    Wust clocked 1:54.09 - short of Ter Mors's Olympic record of 1:53.51 and the best she can win in the event is silver.

    The scene could have been lifted from the 1993 film Cool Runnings, which told the story of the Jamaican bobsleigh team's first ever entry at the Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada, in 1988. The two-man bobsleigh begins at 16:15 GMT.

    Russia might have made hard work of the normal game-time against Slovakia but they impress in the shoot-out, taking it 2-0 to the delight of most in the Bolshoy Ice Dome. Russia must now wait for other results to see if they make it through to the quarter-finals as the best-placed second team, or face a play-off to reach the last eight.
