10:00-13:00: The Dutch - the dominant force in Olympic long-track speed skating history - could begin another gold medal rush on the opening day in the women's 3,000m.

The four-time champion Ireen Wust won the titles at Turin 2006 and Sochi 2014 and secured her 12th world crown last February - and two further honours in Pyeongchang will make her the sport's most decorated Olympic medallist.

Fellow Dutchwoman Antoinette de Jong and Canadian Ivanie Blondin should provide strong challenges, as could Natalya Voronina.

With no Russian team following the well-documented doping scandal, Voronina is likely to be competing under a neutral flag and would be a contender, having won her maiden 3,000m World Cup in December.

12:10-14:30: Olympic history will also be made on the opening day of the Pyeongchang Games with a first unified Korean women's team taking on Switzerland.

Defending champions Canada and Sochi's beaten finalists the USA will again be the ones to watch in the women's competition. They begin their campaigns on day two.

What have you missed overnight? British disappointment in the men's slopestyle.

All three Britons failed to make the final, most significantly Jamie Nicholls, who missed out in the first heat.

    Jenny Jones
2014 Olympic bronze medallist snowboarder on BBC TV

It was a bit disappointing. Obviously it was Rowan's first ever Olympics and it's great experience but I know he wanted to have a full run at this and Billy Morgan, it might be his last Olympics. He so nearly held onto that jump.

Jamie Nicholls landed a whole clean run which was great, he seemed relaxed today going into the event. I do wonder with the judging what that was all about and maybe he should've scored a little bit higher, but his jumps weren't technical enough and unfortunately he just couldn't do it.

They can console each other, they have a little bit of time to prepare for the big air. It's another shot, one big jump to display the best tricks that they've got.

  20. Snowboardingpublished at 06:02 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February 2018

Of the three Britons to go out in the heats, Rowan Coultas and Billy Morgan both fell in the second run of the heat. They have been speaking to BBC TV...

Rowan Coultas on BBC One: "On the first run I was coming in too fast and so I tried to scrub speed but scrubbed too much, then on the second run I didn't hit it hard enough.

"Training went really well and I just really wanted to put it down on the course."

Billy Morgan: "Basically if there was any headwind I knew I was going to be slow, so when I came down to doing the rodeo I pinned it as hard as I could but I was just too slow.

"The big air will be epic, we have a week off now and then it's back on the grind."
