You know the delay is going to be a long one when TV switch to something different - like when they start showing old matches during rain in the cricket.
BBC One has switched to curling....
GB's Elise Christie wins short-track speed skating heat
Lim Hyo-jun wins speed skating gold for hosts South Korea
Sweden's Charlotte Kalla wins first gold of the Games in skiathlon
Unified Korean women's ice hockey team lose 8-0 to Switzerland

Whatever the reason, the action has been put back by another 10 minutes....
I'm now hearing a rumour that the TV cameras might be part of the problem. Surely that's not the issue?

The "technical maintenance" is apparently something to do with the weather, possibly the wind. Can you perform maintenance on the wind? Not sure...

The "technical maintenance" is delaying competition until at least half past. Competitors are now having photographs with the volunteers. Sit tight.
The delay has caused one of the riders, I think it was two-time X Games gold medallist Marcus Kleveland, to lie down and make a snow angel.
I'd like to see a little more professionalism on the opening day of the Winter Olympics, please, Marcus.

Sam Holloway: At school we used to go to the dry ski slope in Sunderland - to do orienteering. That probably doesn't count as a winter sport...

Olympic bronze medallist snowboarder on BBC TV
The course is clearing up which is good, though there is a bit of a cross-wind.
For Rowan Coultas it will be his first Olympics so it's all about experience for him. Anything for him, results wise, is just invaluable experience.
Billy Morgan is great technically on the jumps and Jamie Nicholls is a strong rail-rider - there's a lot of rail potential for him up here.
There's been a delay because of "technical maintenance", whatever that means.
Currently, there are a lot of snowboarders standing around looking fed up.

Jamie Nicholls, who finished sixth in 2014, on BBC One: "I feel like the course looks really good, there are so many options on the rails and I love doing transfers so hopefully I can put something good down.
"I'd like to go there and do just as well as Sochi, if not better. A medal would be the icing on cake for me.
"Success for me is down to performance - if it's the best that I can do on that day, no matter where I finish, then I'll be happy."
There are two runs in the heats, with a competitor's best score counting. There are 37 men in the field, including three Britons - Jamie Nicholls, Billy Morgan and Rowan Coultas.
Nicholls is eighth out of the gate in this first heat...
Right then, time for some action. The heats in the men's snowboard slopestyle are about to begin. Competitors are judged on the tricks and skills they show on the downhill course, which is littered with obstacles. Have a little look at this guide...
Did you miss the opening ceremony? Here at the best bits.
Yes, there's a topless Tongan in there.

He’s ready! Are you? Freestyle snowboarder Jamie Nicholls has the honour - subject to any last-minute delays - of being Team GB’s first athlete in action at the Games! He describes the snowboard slopestyle course as being “like a piece of art” which is a big step up on Sochi 2014 which few competitions really enjoyed. After his cousin Katie Ormerod was ruled out with a fractured heel he says he wants to “put on a show” for her today in the qualifying rounds.
While I'm thinking about Torvill and Dean, can you remember the 1994 comeback, the routine to Let's Face The Music And Dance?
Robbed. Utterly robbed of a gold medal.
I'm still hacked off about it 24 years later.
I've got Bolero, the piece of music that took Torvill and Dean to gold in Sarajevo in 1984 in my head.
Duh, duh-duh-duh-duh, duh, duh....
