Elise Christie was always battling for third and fourth in that race - which was as typically exciting and chaotic as any of the heats we have seen. It's more disappointment for Christie though. The host broadcaster has not shown a replay of her crashing out.

  2. silver medal

Wow - Yara van Kerkhof of the Netherlands has been pushed up into second place, with home favourite Choi Minjeong penalised.

She is out of the medals altogether. Pretty much stunned silence inside the arena.

It doesn't help Elise Christie of course. Kim Boutin of Canada has bronze.

Wow, Arianna Fontana is an outstanding athlete. Crushing disappointment for Christie but we can't take it away from Fontana. She has had all the other colours and now she has gold.

In her quest for gold, Elise Christie ends up on the floor again. History repeats itself in Korea. She doesn't finish the race. One chance gone. She has two more attempts to try and claim an elusive Olympic medal.

She is so, so upset down there at the moment.

It's not about who's the nicest, or even the best. Just who can cover 500m of ice faster than the rest.

Elise Christie is the world record holder. But that counts for nothing now.
