    Men's halfpipe final

    Ed Leigh
    Snowboarding commentator on BBC TV

Shaun White polarises opinion in snowboarding. Say what you want about him, think what you want about him, that was an incredible display of halfpipe snowboarding and no one can take that away from him.

It was not a difficult decision for the judges and, after a heated season, a handshake from Scotty James to congratulate him.

Shaun White was truly tested for the first time in 12 years and he has delivered in some style. He has claimed the third and most important gold medal of his career.

In October, Shaun White had a crash in New Zealand that left him needing 62 stitches in his face. Now he is Olympic champion for the third time. He is in floods of tears, draped in an American flag and being embraced by his team-mates.

Yet another snowboarding star of these Games from the USA.
