Eric Frenzel was Germany’s golden boy in Sochi and he didn’t disappoint. Carrying a six-second lead into the cross-country Frenzel skied away from Japan’s Akito Watabe in the final kilometre to take a first Olympic gold.

He now leads once again. Watabe right behind.

    Ollie Williams
    Commentator on BBC TV

You can just about hear the stadium when you come into the final stretch but otherwise as an athlete, you're basically left to your own thoughts right now.

Every four years, it's the same old question. Figure skating, sport or art? The sport is in the training and the art is in the execution. One needs the other. When they come together in perfect harmony, it needs no explanation, the performance will speak for itself.
