I mean, I can't dance on solid ground. I dread to think what I'd be like on a skiddy surface.

You know that scene in Bambi where he goes on the frozen lake? That'd be me if I ever went near a pair of ice skates.

Jenkonious: I wonder who first looked at a frozen pond and thought 'You know what - if we strap knives to our feet I reckon we could dance on that'.

  4. 'Deas and Yarnold are very strong'published at 10:39 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2018

    Skeleton

    Alex Coomber
Olympic bronze medalist skeleton racer on BBC TV

Laura Deas actually finished higher than Lizzy Yarnold in the most recent World Cup, so she's arguably in better form, but of course Lizzy has been there and done it all before. I think they're both very strong, and I think this track suits a British rider, because no-one knows how it works, there's no home advantage for the Germans or the Swiss riders. Because we don't have our own track GB sliders are always better at adapting to new tracks.

The women's skeleton heats start tomorrow.

    Figure skating

    Christopher Dean
Former Olympic, British, European & World champion ice dancer

Aljona Savchenko and Bruno Massot's figure skating routine was all about building - walking, jogging and then running by the end. I helped them with their routine, and they came to be with the music, and it just felt all about moving to me - staying fluent all the way through.

    Bobsleigh

    Nick Hope
    BBC Sport in Pyeongchang

History-making 1988 Calgary Olympic bobsledder turned Jamaican coach Dudley 'Tal' Stokes has spoken to Omnisport, external about the controversy surrounding the Jamaican women’s team following the departure of coach Sandra Kiriasis.

The team have separately told me they “do not anticipate any changes in equipment.”

"Chaotic is not the word, it's been a good few days for the team, for the girls. Really good training, we're in very good shape," he told Omnisport.

"For sure we're going to be at the top of the hill for the start of the race and we're going to have a good performance.

"What I can say is that we don't expect there to be any changes in equipment going into the Games."

Graham Bell did indeed try the course out earlier - most impressive of all was that he barely even paused for breath as he went speeding along.

McKarley: Aksel Lund Svindal wins the men's Olympic downhill in 1:40:25 to take gold for Norway. Graham Bell completed the course in 1:58:25, while holding a camera, a microphone and commentating for BBC Sport all the way! The oldest and the boldest!

  16. 'Svindal took risks for his win'published at 10:10 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2018

    Alpine skiing

    Chemmy Alcott
Four-time Olympic alpine ski racer on BBC TV

Aksel Lund Svindal took risks for that win, it wasn't easy. This event is very physically demanding, but he really dominated. Although air-time looks good for the sport, it's actually really slow, so you're always trying to get down as quickly as you can and that's what Svindal did today.

  17. Postpublished at 10:08 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2018

None of us fancied a go at the alpine skiing - essentially you're just hurtling down a hill, really, really quickly.

It takes proper nerves, as Aksel Lund Svindal showed earlier.

  19. 'People are scared to fail'published at 10:04 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2018

Some more from Pita Taufatofua on his remarkable drive to compete in Pyeongchang.

"It's the toughest sport I could find. I'm not a distance athlete, I am not a long-distance cross country skier. I trained for sprints all year and they said 'no, you're doing long distance'," he said.

"I am not going to win, I had 12 weeks. The miracle was to get here. I do it because there are people who are inspired by this story.

"People are scared to fail, scared of criticism, scared of what their mum or dad will say about stuff and then they don't do anything."
