    Men's ski slopestyle qualifying

It's a helluva standard now. A score of 85.00 is only good enough for 12th place.

Tyler Harding is going to have to do something special to reach the final.

We're going to need more information on that one. For example, is James Woods better on skis or in a battle of wits?

Norway's Oystein Braaten has also moved into third, meaning that James Woods can qualify no higher than sixth.

James Woods remains securely in the top 12, but has been pushed down into fourth place by Canada's Teal Harle. We're only midway through the second run, so there's a little wait for Tyler Harding's next dig.

    Men's giant slalom

All of the main contenders have taken to the giant slalom course for their first runs and the favourite Marcel Hirscher has a comfortable lead over his rivals.

The Austrian tops the standings by a sizable 0.63 seconds ahead of France's Alexis Pinturault.

Hirscher already has one gold medal in the bag at these Games, is looking good for number two and has a third event to come. The triple is on.

The second and final run starts at 04:45 GMT.

James is a man who loves his skiing, like the colonel loves chicken.

He came up really short there. I was worried he'd done some damage but he looks ok.

He very nearly got his head chopped off by his own ski!

He climbs to his feet and looks OK.

I think he may have taken a painful landing on the backside, though. A ski came off too.

Woods is likely to have a place in the final, but that second run is best forgotten.
