I'm not convinced you'd get many spectators signing up to be pelted by paint pellets.

How about paintball skicross. Getting shot adds to your time, you could even get the spectators involved.

Anyway, where did we get to with combining winter sports?
Men's ski slopestyle qualifying
James Woods no longer sits on top of the leaderboard.
American, Nick Goepper, bronze medalist in Sochi, takes first place by more than two points.
We're not even halfway through the first qualifying run and this one is getting tasty.

It's the details that are going to separate these skiers, that's what the judges are looking for.
The highest and lowest scores are discarded from the five judges and the average of the remaining three are taken to give the skier's score.
While the qualifying in the slopestye goes on, the first run in the men's giant slalom has also got under way.
Austria's Marcel Hirscher, who won gold in the combined earlier in the Games, is the reigning world champ and favourite to add more precious metal here.

Nerves, what nerves!?
Stunning opening run from GB’s James Woods who is desperate to show what he is truly capable of here and should now be guaranteed a chance to do just that in the final later.
Four years ago he effectively competed with a partially broken hip after a horror crash in training on the Olympic course.
Fifth place was still highly impressive, but given his X Games and World Cup successes - we know he is a genuine contender for the Olympic’s biggest prize.

Max Haley: James Woods, as a man who skis competently I am in awe of what I just saw.
Mark Shaw: Get in James Woods great first run. Nicely executed with room for improvement. Exactly what you want from the quali's. Should see you through
Paul Fowler: Great run from Woodsy to kick things off, and he's definitely still bigger tricks in his bag.
Men's ski slopestyle qualifying
If you've never heard of James Woods, you may well know a helluva lot more about him by the time day breaks.
The 26-year-old from Sheffield finsihed fourth in the X Games last month, as well as winning big air bronze.
Four years ago, when he finished fifth, he was hampered by injuries. He is the only skier in the world who can pull off a switch triple cork 1440 octograb.

James Woods take a bow - that was majestic. That is how you come out swinging! He has absolutely sent it.
He loves this course. He says it's like a caged animal - don't stick your fingers in or you'll lose digits!
Men's ski slopestyle qualifying
Only three men have gone, but James Woods has laid down a marker.
A score of 90.20 puts him top of the fledgling leaderboard, but will also take some beating.

James Woods could win gold. There is no danger of that. But this is freestyle skiing so it's one of 10 guys to win.
The standard is so, so good, but he is in a really good chance of that gold medal.
He's going to have to be at the top of his game. He's on form and did well at the X Games with a silver medal a couple of weeks ago.
He's up against the world's best, the Americans have brought a strong contingent. The reigning Olympic champion is out through injury but the silver and bronze medallists from Sochi are here.
It's going to be an incredible qualifying session and final.
You know the drill by now, right?
Each of the skiers gets two runs down the course, with their best run counting. The top 12 make the final.
James Woods, fifth four years ago, is third to go. Tyler Harding, in his first Olympics, is third-last out of the gate.

David Shaw: I don’t know about combining two winter sports but I wouldn’t mind seeing paint balling either on snow with skis or on ice think it could be a really good thing to watch
If you text us on 81111 suggesting the egg and spoon race on ice, it's a wonderful idea, but you get no credit because you didn't put your name on it.
