“With more time and more preparation and funding I think we’re proving that we can be as competitive as everyone else.”

    Skiing: Nordic combined

Germany are one, two, three! They are stunned! It is Johannes Rydzek - the gold medallist in the normal hill and large hill and the team event last year - who gets his name on the podium board.

Fabian Riessle takes silver and Eric Frenzel takes bronze. That was exhausting just watching it!

    Short track: Women's 1000m

    Sarah Lindsay
Three-time Olympic short track speed skater on BBC TV

I think it probably has been [as bad as Sochi.] Elise Christie is strong and I can't see her finishing any time soon. She will come back because she has a lot of unfinished business on the ice.

Luke Carlile-Stanton: You think F1 has lots of penalties? Then you’ve clearly not watched short track Speed Skating. Utterly bonkers. Still been one of my highlights of Pyeongchang though (Elise Christie sadness aside).

    Short track: Women's 1000m reaction

    Sarah Lindsay
Three-time Olympic short track speed skater on BBC TV

She [Elise Christie] has obviously been through a lot. I'm sure she is very, very disappointed. It would have been hard for her to reflect straight after her race but she went out and delivered a commendable interview.

I think her confidence was a little knocked. Normally she would have made a move round the outside but she went up the inside.

She got up into qualifying position and we thought she had got through but unfortunately she was given a penalty twice and a yellow card which is almost unheard of.

It went against her again. She was just trying to qualify.

    Women's bobsleigh: Two-man

    Nicola Minichiello
Three-time Olympic bobsledder on BBC TV

The start wasn't fantastic and it unsettled Jazmine Fenlator-Victorian. It was just scrappy. They [Jamaican team] will be going back and really analysing how they can make it better for the second, third and fourth run.

They will be disappointed because they should be mixing it in the top 10 comfortably.

The Jamaican pair have had plenty of coverage but they ended that first run down in 17th place after a sketchy, scrappy start.

    Women's bobsleigh

    Nicola Minichiello
Three-time Olympic bobsledder on BBC TV

It was a solid line from the Brits. Mica McNeill has not been competing at this level for very long, she's still developing.

That was one of the best drives of the whole competition.
