Jake Smyth: What gets me about Bobsled is as soon as the race is over, the sled is carried away on its side scraping the ice. You’d think team staff would carry it away to avoid scratches which could reduce aerodynamics when it comes to milliseconds?

    Agreed Jake...

The Germans miss out this time! They finish down in fourth. Arnd Peiffer's nightmare visit to the range has cost them there surely. All gold for France and Martin Fourcade.

It's France's to lose. Martin Fourcade goes clear again. Germany's Arnd Peiffer needs to complete a penalty loop and Fourcade leads by 34 seconds from Norway's Emil Hegle Svendsen with just one circuit left on the final leg.

Fourcade is about to become France's most successful Olympian of all-time in either the Winter or Sumner Games.

How good must this feel? Martin Fourcade is on his way to becoming the most successful French man or woman in Winter or Summer Olympic history.

Gold in the pursuit, gold in the mass start and now it looks very much like it will be gold in the relay.

Martin Fourcade is on his way for what he hopes will be a glory loop for gold. The French know they have a massive, massive chance now.

This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Arnd Peiffer now. Big mistake from the German.

Superb from Martin Fourcade for France. He goes clean on the penultimate round of shooting, and with Germany's Arnd Peiffer missing twice, that lead of over 30 seconds is down to six seconds at the start of the second of three circuits on the final leg.

Arnd Peiffer is world class but he is still a human being. It is the Olympic Games and he could feel the pressure from the others as they try to close the gap.

Martin Fourcade can now practically reach out and touch the German. Peiffer will know that the World Cup leader is right behind him - like a shadow of doom waiting to pounce.

It’s been tough watching Elise Christie crash out of three consecutive races - just like she did in Sochi.

She’s a genuine person, with bags of character, who’s always very engaging to talk to.

But the truth of the matter is she’s had six disqualifications in her last six Olympic events. Yes, some of it is bad luck but perhaps her decision-making could have been better, and maybe the burden of expectation was too heavy.

She now has to regroup in time for the world championships, where she will defend three titles. We’ll have to wait and see if she makes it back for a fourth shot at an Olympic medal in Beijing in four years.

Short track is so brutal and unforgiving - can she face doing it all over again? Watch this space.
