The quite brilliant men's ski cross is under way too.

If you haven't seen it, this is where four skiers race down a 1050m course of jumps and bumps, where pretty much anything goes.

Firstly, though, each one of the 32-strong field goes alone to set a time that determines the seedings.

    Big air qualifiers

The second heat in the men's big air competition is under way. Billy Morgan, the European X Games bronze medallist is looking to succeed where Jamie Nicholls and Rowan Coultas failed, by making the top six and reaching the final.

Remember, each rider gets two attempts down the massive ramp, with their best score counting.

Vonn looked pretty crestfallen with that, unable to lift her head from her knees.

Goggia getting hugs and kisses. It's looking more and more likely that she will become the Olympic champion.

    Women's downhill

Norway's Ragnhild Mowinckel - already a silver medallist in the giant slalom - threatens to nip inside Sofia Goggia's time but finishes just 0.09 seconds behind the Italian.

Mowinckel squeals repeatedly with delight. She's absolutely thrilled with that. And she's bumped Lindsey Vonn down into the bronze medal position.

If you can manage the tension, Great Britain's men are in action from 05:05 GMT. They may have already done enough for a place in the last four, but will make sure if they beat the USA.

Joanne Pen: Fantastic from Eve Muirhead and the girls. I was worried at half-time but they were terrific in that last end.

Caoin McCabe: What a game of curling from Team Muirhead. They took their time, never panicked or rushed and in the end came out with victory.

John Kelly: Nail-biting stuff! What a result - worth staying up for! Well done GB Women curlers!

It was so quiet when Homan was playing that final move. You can only hear the granite shuffling across the ice and a security guard's walkie talkie.

Once GB's win was confirmed with a handshake, a few union jacks suddenly start waving and the vocal Canadian support got on their feet to give their women some encouragement in defeat.

That's the first time ever that Canada have ever failed to reach an Olympic podium.

Those semi-finals, by the way, will be played on Friday at 11:05 GMT. Great Britain will probably face one of Sweden or South Korea.

Finally, in the last four ends, the team came together to produce a brilliant performance.

A huge shock for Canada, which will have ramifications back home, they are out and Great Britain have cemented their place in the final four.

What a match. They got themselves across the line when it mattered most. A great performance from Great Britain.

All over! Great Britain are in to the semi-finals!

Rachel Homan's final stone doesn't have the legs and she doesn't even bother to ask Eve Muirhead to deliver her last brick.

Hands shaken, GB celebrate, Muirhead's rink can think about the last four and going better than the bronze of four years ago.

Canada, curling's dominant force, go out.

Muirhead's first stone is a touch short.

One to go from Canada's Homan, two GB stones to remove, with another two at the front of the house.

    Decision time.

Canada have to come down and shift this around now. This is their Olympic Games now, right here.

They've never, ever not made it through to the semi-finals. They have no other option than to move these stones around and hope things fall nicely.

Sweden have just beaten China 8-4 on sheet B. One of the Swedish fans blew a horn in celebration and it woke up the people napping in the crowd.

That win for Sweden actually helps Great Britain and Canada as it keeps China from making a charge for the fourth semi-final spot.
