    Men's ski cross

The course is 1050m long, with a 120m drop. The action is relentless. As soon as one race of four ends, the next one begins. The 32-man field is split into eight races, with the top two in each one progressing. We keep going until we have a winner.

    It's brilliant.

It looked like Tciknavorian really badly injured his leg. The other racers, those still waiting to compete, were all crowded around a TV to see what had happened.

It takes a lot to stop these lads, though. Racing has already resumed...

    Men's ski cross

Ski cross is usually such an exciting, adrenaline-fuelled event but there's a very sombre mood at the Phoenix Snow Park after Frenchman Terence Tciknavorian crashed badly in the second of eight heats.

He has just been wheeled away on a stretcher. It looks a very serious injury.

Here’s a very happy Billy Morgan after making the final. “I was really happy with today and it went pretty perfect,” he tells me.

He has the 1800 in his locker but doesn’t think the jump is big enough to land it and hasn’t been practising for qualification. The only thing that was worrying him was an ear infection.

“When I was on the jump yesterday I thought the scaffolding was shaking but it was the balance in my ears.

“I woke up at 4am this morning and the ear was completely blocked but I’ve had it syringed and it’s been OK.”
