Wondering what the G in super-G is? It's super giant slalom.

Unlike some of the other events like slalom, you've only got one chance to get it right - one single run in the fastest time wins gold.

It's fast like downhill, but is raced over a shorter course with more turns. Basically it combines downhill and giant slalom.

They need David Attenborough to commentate on that Kaishu Hirano jump. It was like watching a bald eagle soar through Alaska.

That is how you sign off at the Olympics.

Jan Scherrer faces a nervous wait now.

Despite that unclean third run, his second run score puts him in bronze medal position, but can anyone move above him?

Jan Scherrer is in bronze at the moment, but he can't improve and will just have to watch and wait to see if he can stay third.

Kaishu Hirano, brother of current silver medallist Ayumu Hirano, is another one that should be in the highlights reel. He launches so high, he's grabbing his board for absolute ages with gasps of disbelief from the watching crowd.

But it's not meant to be as a couple of tricks later he comes crashing back down to earth and he won't be joining his sibling in the medals.

Curling - Great Britain 4-5 US (after five ends)

    Jackie Lockhart
Four-time Olympic curler on BBC TV

John Shuster is having a great game and has not made an error yet, he is shooting at 100% and that is the difference in the scoreline.

(Britain) are calling a great game, they just have to execute every shot.

We're into the final run in the men's halfpipe final. The standard and scoring is just getting better and better. Gripping stuff.

    Women's skeleton

    Anna Thompson
    BBC Sport in Beijing

We've had the first run in the women's skeleton and British pair Laura Deas and Brogan Crowley have struggled and are nearly a second off the pace already.

Canada's Mirela Rahneva leads the way, with Australia's Jaclyn Narracott 0.02 seconds behind and China's Zhao Dan 0.23 seconds off the leader.

With the British men also off the pace it looks like Team GB's proud history of winning a skeleton medal at every Games the event has been part of the programme is coming to an end.

A solid end with the hammer for GB takes them to within a score. Now time to force a few US errors in the second half of the match.

Wow. A HUGE run by Scotty James is followed up by an even bigger one by Ayumu Hirano.

The height the Japanese rider got on that triple double was insane.

An interesting reaction to the judges’ scores though. I definitely heard a few boos.

Ayumu Hirano, one of four Japanese entrants in this final, gets himself second.

It's a complete change from the first run to the second. Our top four with one run to go are

    1. Scotty James (Australia, 92.5)
    2. Ayumu Hirano (Japan, 91.75)
    3. Jan Scherrer (Switzerland, 87.25)
    4. Shaun White (USA, 85)
  12. Mouat's rink hits backpublished at 02:27 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2022

Curling - Great Britain 4-5 USA (after five ends)

John Shuster plays two similar shots to round off his involvement in the fifth end. The US skip twice takes out a British stone at the back of the house.

If Bruce Mouat can replicate that shot though, the Great Britain quartet will reach the halfway point just one behind because they already lie one in the house.

The weight looks perfect and he knocks out the US stone to lie two. A brief break now and the US will resume with the last-stone advantage in the sixth end.

    Men's halfpipe final

Ayumu Hirano landed a 1440 but then faltered later in his run, but Scotty James has just nailed a 1440 himself and it's a clean run.

Our commentators say he went so high, he nearly made it to space. Beam me up Scotty.

He smashes his way to the lead and is the first man to break through the 90-point barrier today with a 92.5. Into gold-medal position as it stands.

If the US give us two they are happy with that because they still have a lead of one and the hammer going into the next end.

Curling - Great Britain 2-5 USA (after four ends)

Halfway through the fifth end and Britain have two counting stones. John Shuster is not happy with how it's looking and demands a clear out.

Chris Plys delivers and suddenly the US have two in scoring position.

Grant Hardie curls his first stone of this end behind a guard down the right. Looks like GB are now lying shot. They do have the last stone in this end.

Shaun White celebrates another clean run. A huge of 85 for that one, and a US team member nears me celebrates with an expletive I won’t repeat here.

One more run of his career remains.

Shaun White loves his run - it's truly amazing.

He's already said this is his last Olympics. The three-time gold medallist is on course for another medal, at the age of 35.

It's a score of 85, nudging fellow American Taylor Gold down to bronze but just a bit off Jan Scherer's 87.25, which still leads the way.

Sixteen-year-old Valentino Guseli plays the guitar, like surfing, but, just when you think he couldn't be any cooler, you see lawn bowls listed as one of his hobbies.

Anyway, he's now in the medals with a 79.75. "That's OK, I don't want to go early."

    Super chilled.
