Shaun White will be ecstatic to put down a clean first run, after he failed to do so in qualifying.

That left him with his "stomach in knots", but today's opener will calm any nerves he has.

There's a huge crowd watching him - the hottest ticket in town (if there were tickets...).

    Men's halfpipe final

Shaun White fell once in qualifying, but then saved himself with his second attempt, but it's a clean run to get his final under way.

However, the score of 72 means he is down in fourth, but has another two runs later on to see if he can push into the medals.

Sixteen-year-old Valentino Guseli of Australia is going so fast and so high the camera operator can't keep up. Luckily, the judges are paying attention and a score of 75.75 takes him second.

From a youthful teenager at the start of his career to a legend at the end of his.

Next up is three-time champion Shaun White.

Curling - Great Britain 0-2 USA (after two ends)

A mistake by the US with their seventh stone of end three gives Britain an opportunity to start building towards erasing the deficit.

Grant Hardie nails his effort, curling into the house behind two guarding stones but the US reply with an equally good shot, nestling next to the British stone.

    It's down to the skips...

    Men's halfpipe final

American Taylor Gold has the name fit for the occasion. And has the skills to match. He's upside down, he's twisting about and produces something to do with chicken salad (according to our commentators). No, I don't know what that means either.

Anyway, Gold by name and maybe gold by nature. He leads the way with a score of 81.75. Everyone gets three runs and the best score counts.

    Ed Leigh
    Snowboarding commentator on BBC TV

In 24 years we’ve had six finals.

Shaun White has won half of those finals, he has three gold medals but never has he faced a field like this.

  9. 'US chuffed with that end'published at 01:37 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2022

Curling - Great Britain 0-2 USA

    Thomas Duncan
    BBC Scotland in Beijing

A lot of back-slapping going on among the US team, they're chuffed with that end.

They got some really nice curl on the stones to come in to the button for a score of two.

GB now have the hammer for the first time, so an immediate chance to respond with two of their own.

  10. USA take early leadpublished at 01:35 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2022

Curling - Great Britain 0-2 USA (after two ends of 10)

John Shuster knew exactly what he had to do - provide a carbon copy of his last effort - and he nails it perfectly as the United States get the two they are after to take an early lead.

Curling - Great Britain 0-0 USA (after one end)

Bruce Mouat, who reached the mixed doubles semi-finals with Jen Dodds, is attempting a double take-out and is partially successful by getting rid of one of the American yellow stones.

But John Shuster, the American skip, times the next one perfectly to bring two close to the button. One stone left for each nation in end two of 10.

Curling - Great Britain 0-0 USA (after one end)

America's Christopher Plys sends out an apology as he overcooks his effort. His side have the hammer so will be looking to take two from this end, but at the moment they have one, but with three attempts to improve that.

Curling - Great Britain 0-0 USA (after one of 10 ends)

    Jackie Lockhart

It’s all about timing. It’s about timing your best performances for the latter part of the week.

You’re playing this nine-game round robin to get to the last four and put yourself in that play-off spot.

If you’re on a roll, continue it and keep it going.

Bobby Lammie of Britain sends a stone down at pace and he is very accurate as his stone bumps into another red one, and that hits another one. USA still holding a shot, but it looked good.

Curling - Great Britain 0-0 USA (after one of 10 ends)

    Steve Cram
    Curling commentator on BBC TV

This is a match Great Britain, on paper, would expect to win seven or eight times out of 10. They’ve developed a real reputation and Bruce Mouat has become one of the best and youngest skips around.

They come here as one of the favourites.

  18. Hirano led the way in qualifyingpublished at 01:18 Greenwich Mean Time 11 February 2022

    Snowboard: Men's halfpipe final

    Katie Falkingham
    BBC Sport in Zhangjiakou

So who to watch out for in this halfpipe final?

Japan's Ayumu Hirano topped qualifying with a best of 93.25. He was just 15 when he won the first of his two Olympic silver medals in this event, and in December, he became the first man to land the hallowed triple cork in competition. He also competed in skateboarding at the Tokyo 2020 summer Olympics.

Then there's Australia's Scotty James, who hasn't been seen much this winter as he's been training on his own private pipe in Switzerland. He was second in qualifying behind Hirano, but beat the Japanese to the X-Games title in Colorado in January.

Curling - Great Britain 0-0 USA (after one end)

The US have the last stone of the first end. Great Britain have one in the house, but it's a routine clean-up operation for American skip John Shuster to start us off with a blank end.

So it's on to end two of 10, with USA retaining the hammer - and will have the last stone in this end.

    Pace yourself, Matt, pace yourself.
