Curling - China 6-7 Great Britain

    Thomas Duncan
    BBC Scotland in Beijing

An important win for Britain. They come back to play winless Denmark at 12:05. A great chance to move on to four wins.

Six in total should be enough to reach the semi-finals.

Finland's Samu Torsti just another man to hit the deck in these horrible giant slalom conditions.

It's ugly out there. I make it 22 men now with DNF next to their name. That's a quarter of the field and we've still got around 30 men to send down.

    Dear me.

Elana Meyers Taylor set a start record in her first run, while Kaillie Humphries set a track record.

It's going to fascinating to see how this pans out. The two Americans are trying to become the first women to win a bobsleigh medal at four successive Winter Olympics. They could both do that!

    China 6-7 Great Britain

China take two from the last end but it's not enough. Great Britain's men make that superb second end count. They put four in the house in the second end to open up a big lead and they worked smartly to protect it.

    China 4-7 Great Britain

Great Britain are easing home with two stones left in this final end. A look of dejection on Chinese faces.

China have one in the house but they need three and that will not be happening.

This will move Great Britain on to three wins from four outings.

    Not too shabby.

    Men's giant slalom

So far 12 of the 89 men in the field have a DNF next to their name due to crashes in these tricky conditions. That number will rise.

The cream will rise to the top here and Marco Odermatt of Switzerland is still in top spot. We've got an age left though.

Curling - China 4-7 Great Britain (after nine ends)

    Steve Cram
    Curling commentator on BBC TV

Great Britain have a lead of three going into the final end. They’ve got the hammer and you wouldn’t want to lose it from here.

GB know it’s a fairly straightforward end, they don’t even need to score.

Another error from Ma Xiuyue as that final draw for two comes up short.

He's handed over the hammer too, so they'll need a miracle steal of three to force an extra end.

    Bobsleigh - monobob

    Sonia Oxley
    BBC Sport in Beijing

A couple of Chinese athletes are quite handily placed after the first run - Ying Qing and Huai Mingming are fifth and sixth respectively.

Before the Games, former China skeleton coach Jeff Pain told me that the Chinese could spring some surprises on this sliding track across both skeleton and bobsleigh because they will have had so many more practice runs at their home track than anyone else (he reckoned around 10 times as many).

They have already done that in skeleton where Yan Wengang won men’s bronze. Given that 2018 was the first Olympics where they even competed in the sport, that is very impressive.

    Will these bobsledders follow suit?

They're going in reverse order so we'll have to wait until the end to find out.

It’s not won yet but the hard work has certainly been done.

Great Britain just need to finish it off now.

  14. A proper wipeout...published at 03:07 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2022

    Men's giant slalom

Aleksander Andrienko of the Russian Olympic Committee team just crashed and crashed big.

He loses his footing, one of his skis comes off, he opts to go onto one leg and it's only a matter of time before he's sliding into an obstacle like a prime Vinnie Jones.

He wipes out the ski gate, that was reckless and over the top. A straight red.

Thankfully he's OK and gets up but man he was all over the show there.

  15. 'Snowy races produce unexpected results'published at 03:03 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2022

Alpine skiing - Men's giant slalom

    Matt Chilton

Sometimes these snowy races can produce some unexpected results.

Although, it’s not unexpected at the moment with Marco Odermatt out in front, with Stefan Brennsteiner second and Mathieu Faivre third.

  16. Favre goes well...published at 03:03 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2022

    Men's giant slalom

I do love the screams, hollers and cries of something or other as an athlete sets off from the start of the men's giant slalom.

    "Ahhhhhhuuuhhhwaaaahhhhhh". Or something like that.

Mathieu Faivre of France - the 2021 world champion - is third, Stefan Brennsteiner of Austria second and Marco Odermatt of Switzerland still in top spot.

A reminder this is run one of two, with athletes' two runs added together to find a winner.

In a nutshell, a long way to go.

  17. Big three for Britainpublished at 03:02 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2022

Curling - China 3-7 Great Britain (after eight ends)

A couple of wayward British shots gives China an opening but they then too play a couple of horror stones to hand the advantage back.

Bruce Mouat turns the screw and is lying two shots. His Chinese counterpart Ma Xiuyue elects to try and remove both British stones with an immensely difficult shot - he needs a feint clip on one to the left of the house, hoping to deflect onto the second which is at the bottom of the house.

There is immediate concern and his stone is barely swept as it glides past its target. Mouat nails his final shot to claim three.

  18. Postpublished at 02:56 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2022

So as per Katie's entry, snowed off at the women's slopestyle. I didn't know that could happen but apparently it's more common than one would think.

Curling - China 3-4 Great Britain

    Thomas Duncan
    BBC Scotland in Beijing

Britain are well place for two in this eighth end with that yellow just creeping into the eight-foot (white circle).

China will probably have to take that out, and Mouat's penultimate stone, to prevent a score of two against them.

  20. Slopestyle qualification cancelled for daypublished at 02:53 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2022

    Women's slopestyle qualifying

    Katie Falkingham
    BBC Sport in Zhangjiakou

Today's women's slopestyle qualifiers have been cancelled for the day, with no sign of the snow relenting.

Everyone is coming down from the hill.
