Ok, in Beijing we can’t compete with your temperatures, Katie, but we do at least (finally!) have some snow!

That’s the first to fall during these Winter Games. Not enough to enter the snowman competition.

Curling - China 3-4 Great Britain

    Thomas Duncan

That stone hanging right on the edge of the house caused an issue for Bruce Mouat. China made sure he couldn't take out both and it was an easy two in the end.

China with the final stone of this fourth end, a real chance to move the British stone out of the house and leave two in there.

Ma Xiuyue sends it down and it's good.

I didn't know ski events could fall to too much snow if I'm honest.

Thank goodness for curling, where the lads and lasses are always out there bowling them down.

    Women's freeski slopestyle qualifying

    Katie Falkingham
    BBC Sport in Zhangjiakou

Due to the heavy snow falling at the Genting Snow Park right now, the start of the women's freeski slopestyle qualifiers has been delayed by at least two hours.

At the moment, the competition will not start before 12:00 local time (04:00 GMT).

Go make a snowman Katie. See if you can better the one in our last entry!

We’re expecting some absolutely outrageous temperatures in the mountains over the next few days.

Highs, yes HIGHS, of -22C. But with the windchill, that’s forecast to feel more like -35C.

    Please send warming thoughts.

Curling - China 1-4 Great Britain

    Jackie Lockhart
Four-time Olympic curler on BBC TV

"Right from the word go, Great Britain have had great stone placement and are really firing well at the moment."

Into the fourth end and Great Britain have a healthy lead to protect. A reminder they have won two and lost one of their matches so far, so a win here is imperative.

Team USA have gone big on Humphries' lead. She pointed at her badge like a deadline day signing and swished her hair. I have no idea what that last bit means.

    Bobsleigh - monobob

    Sonia Oxley
    BBC Sport in Beijing

The current world champion in monobob, Kaillie Humphries, is the one to watch here. She has already posted a time that is 0.68 seconds faster than her nearest rival. And that, in bobsleigh terms, is big!

Humphries is a double Olympic champion - but she used to compete for Canada. Now, she's an American...more about why that happened coming in a moment.

    Bobsleigh - monobob

    Sonia Oxley
    BBC Sport in Beijing

One of the pre-event favourites was American Elana Meyers Taylor. But the 37-year-old had a difficult build-up, testing positive for Covid when she arrived in Beijing.

She was supposed to carry her country's flag at the opening ceremony but was instead in isolation, posting videos of her trying to train in a hotel room.

She came out of isolation in time for her first training session on Thursday but was off the pace. Right now she's top of the standings but that is only after four women have raced,

Athletes will do two runs today and then another two tomorrow. Final standings are determined by the aggregate time of the four heats, recorded to 0.01 of a second, with the lowest winning.

  18. An event for multi-tasking...published at 01:43 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2022

    Bobsleigh - monobob

    Sonia Oxley
    BBC Sport in Beijing

We'll soon get our first glimpse of the monobob, an exciting new Olympic event at the Yanqing sliding centre.

As it's name suggests, it's one person (a woman to be precise, this is a women-only event) in a bobsleigh.

You really need to multi-task for this event as you've got the running, steering and braking to do all by yourself rather than with all those team-mates to help in the two- and four-man versions.
