American Erin Jackson is one of the big favourites for this event. She will go later.

Due to a technical issue Jackson, the World Cup leader, originally didn't qualify for the event but her team-mate Brittany Bowe gave up her place to allow her to compete. Remarkable!

Bowe, who ultimately regained her spot in the end as a late qualifier,, external has just gone third fastest.

So what of this women's speed skating 500m final?

This is different to the short track events we saw earlier with the skaters racing the clock rather than each other directly.

Miho Takagi of Japan has set the time to beat so far.

But Bruce Mouat responds with a beauty and the handshakes from the Danes follow.

    Michael Goodfellow

If you look across the other teams there are a few that standout that Team GB will have to play really well to beat.

There are quite a few teams that know how to produce their best when it matters most.

Coming up in about five minutes we have the women's 500m speed skating final.

Japan's Nao Kodaira holds the Olympic record in a time of 36.94 seconds which she achieved in 2018.

She is named in the start list. Will her record be broken today?

  10. The winners on day ninepublished at 13:48 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2022

Here's a recap of the golds we have seen today...

Norway's Marte Olsbu Roeiseland dominated the women's biathlon pursuit to clinch her third gold of the Games.

Quentin Fillon Maillet won gold for France in an entertaining men's pursuit. He became the first French athlete to win four medals at a single Olympic Games

The short track speed skating was a lot of fun.

    Hungary's Shaoang Liu won the men's 500m...

And theNetherlands team won the 3,000m relay - an emotional win after the death of a team-mate in 2020.

And on skis Marco Odermatt won gold for Switzerland in the giant slalom.

Graham Bell, who knows a lot more about skiing than me, tipped Odermatt to become one of the best skiers in history.

There was also a gold for the Russia Olympic Committee in the men's 4x10km relay cross country event.

Men's curling Great Britain 5-2 Denmark

Well there's another point for Denmark but I'm not sure it counts as "making a move" like Logan suggested below.

Skip Mikkel Krause draws in for one at the end if the seventh.

GB are still in command with a 5-2 lead with three ends to play.

  12. 'Great Britain are in good shape'published at 13:37 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2022

    Logan Gray

Great Britain are in good shape with the two stones on the centre line, Denmark will have to deal will them at some point.

The question is when do Denmark make their move?

Sweepers Hammy and Lammie are big boys. Sometimes looks like the brush is going to snap when they give it some welly.

  14. Great Britain edge closerpublished at 13:33 Greenwich Mean Time 13 February 2022

Men's curling: Great Britain 5-1 Denmark (seventh end)

It feels like this GB curling match is only going one way - a victory for Bruce Mouat's rink.

A clever shot from Mouat ends the sixth end, and the lead increases by one more.

She is the first from outside of long track speed skating, with Rintje Ritsma, Sven Kramer and Ireen Wüst having previously won five in that sport.

Bobby Lammie, one of this GB team, is a Celtic fan so I bet will be keen to wrap this one up in time for their match against Raith Rovers at 16:00 GMT.

Lammie's team-mates Grant Hardie and Hammy McMillan are Rangers fans. Awkward.

Denmark get a point on the board in the fifth end but have not turned up at all here. I don't think their skip Mikkel Krause will be cracking any jokes in this brief interval.
