It's an American one-two in the monobob on its Olympic debut.

Elana Meyers Taylor's fourth run was fast enough to lift her into silver, with Canadian Christine du Bruin in bronze.

The margin of Humphries' victory is 1.54 seconds, which is huge.

Both Americans have now won medals in four Winter Olympics.

Team USA have much to celebrate after taking the first ever gold in monobob. Kaillie Humphries was so dominant and winning by over a second is as good as receiving a dozen cards on Valentine's Day.

Elana Meyers Taylor is guaranteed a medal! She's top with two to go.

She has sealed that with her fastest run of the four heats.

That will be her fourth medal in a fourth Olympics - fantastic for the 37-year-old American.

Elana Meyers Taylor is just grateful she has been able to race here - even if she has not been able to challenge team-mate Kaillie Humphries for gold in the way she was expected to.

The American was put in isolation when she arrived in Beijing after a positive test and was separated from her two-year-old son.

"Yesterday was the first day I didn't bawl my eyes out, so being able to race is a victory in itself," she said after Saturday's two heats.

She's now third and will soon be racing to try to try to turn that into a medal.
