It's tight, as we expected. Both teams just taking one with the hammer.

I've been reliably informed the stones got rubbed down last night (standard practice during competition), to give them a bit more zip.

Hopefully we'll see some swinging rocks today to liven up the matches.

Well I had a lovely surprise from the hotel staff when I went down for breakfast this morning - a rose!

Slightly surreal when they’re dressed head to toe in hazmat suit. Happy Valentine’s Day from China!

Now we know some of you have woken up and felt that shudder because you've forgotten a Valentine's Day card. Fear not, you have many, many hours ahead during which you can apologise, get creative and, if needed, spend your way out of trouble.

And remember it's the small things that go a long way on day's like today. A flower here, a kind word there. In fact word is reaching us that the Valentine's Day spirit is very much alive in the land of China...

    Katie, where are you?

    Men's curling - Switzerland v Great Britain (06:05)

    Thomas Duncan
    BBC Scotland in Beijing

We're into the final week of the marathon curling programme, and it's getting down to the business end.

Six wins should be enough for Bruce Mouat's GB men to reach the semi-finals. They're on four just now, but they've still got all of their nearest challengers to play.

A win here against the Swiss would be huge, because they've still got high-flying Sweden and the wily Canadians to play.

    Let's go!

Right, we will be dipping back to that story a lot this morning I would imagine.

We are going to put a little focus the way of Great Britain's curlers though as the men are in action.

Now where's my man Thomas Duncan to keep us up to speed....

  12. USA 'disappointed' with Valieva verdictpublished at 06:24 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2022

  13. Valieva benefits from 'exceptional' circumstancespublished at 06:20 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2022

    Figure skating

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) says suspending Kamila Valieva would cause "irreparable harm" despite her returning a failed drugs test in December.

Cas said she should benefit from "exceptional circumstances", adding: "She is under 16 and a protected person under the World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) code," said Cas' Matthieu Reeb.

  14. Valieva free to competepublished at 06:11 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2022

    Figure skating

More on the breaking news about 15-year-old Kamila Valieva.

You will recall news of her failed December drugs test was reported on 8 February, the day after she became the first female skater to land a quadruple jump at an Olympics to help the Russian Olympic Committee team win gold.

When the issue came to light, the medal ceremony was postponed at short notice.

The Russian figure skater had been provisionally suspended on 8 February but challenged the decision and the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (Rusada) lifted it the following day.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and others launched an appeal that Cas has now turned down. She is now free to compete on Tuesday.

Valieva has been seen training in recent days.

Yesterday she made a snow panda, today she knocks this out. She has simply conquered snow.
