Johanne Killi of Norway starts well, scoring 81.48 on run one.

China's Eileen Gu has the kind of status where they put you on posters to sell the Games. She won't be thrilled with her opening score but as we've seen in other events at this Games, sometimes the conditions make things very difficult and it's about getting it done rather than doing something overly sensational.

Switzerland's Sarah Hoefflin hits the deck late in her run at the women's freeski slopestyle qualifying run. French athlete Tess Ledeux is having her legs rubbed by a coach before starting - such is the freezing environment. She falls too. That leg rub didn't quite cut it.

China's 'snow princess' Eileen Gu is the first one to drop in at slopestyle qualifying.

She already has one gold medal at her home Olympics, landing a 1620 - four and a half rotations - for the first time in her competitive career to win big air gold.

Her slopestyle hasn't got off to the best start with a pretty unsmooth rails section. She scores 57.28 for her first run.

    Bobsleigh - monobob

    Sonia Oxley
    BBC Sport in Beijing

Kaillie Humphries has picked up where she left off yesterday ... the American is utterly dominating this monobob competition.

In a sport where competitors are split by hundredths of a second, her lead of 1.55 seconds over second-placed Christine de Bruin after three runs is beyond huge.

Humphries' team-mate Elana Meyers Taylor has put herself in medal contention - no mean feat given she spent several days in isolation after a positive Covid test after arriving in Beijing. She's third, 1.73 behind Humphries.

As you know, we had a LOT of snow fall yesterday. This morning there are hundreds of people out clearing the roads and paths, using shovels, leaf blowers and Harry Potter-style brooms.

It's a nippy day too. My phone tells me it's currently -23C, but the windchill makes that feel more like -33C.

  7. Women's freeski underway....published at 02:01 Greenwich Mean Time 14 February 2022

Women's freeski slopestyle qualification is under way, a day later than it was meant to be after postponement.

Great Britain's Katie Summerhayes and Kirsty Muir could challenge for medals.

Estonia's Kelly Sildaru, who first won an X Games gold medal at the age of 13, is a leading contender.

The athletes will get two runs apiece and the 12 with the best scores will move on in the competition.

It’s a beautiful bluebird day here at Shougang Park after Sunday’s snowfall.

It’s cold but sunny and the snowboarders have three runs with the score of their best two different jumps added up for a combined total.

There’s a number of heavy-hitters at the top of the start list with number one and two ranked big air snowboarders, Japan’s Miyabi Onitsuka and Reira Iwabuchi dropping in shortly.

Breeana Walker of Australia gets down in 1:05.1. Just so you guys are on it, the times are added together to create a total. If you make it through all four runs then naturally your four times are added together, lowest takes gold.

Nobody is going to catch Kaillie Humphries though. She led by more than one second after the first two runs and extended that lead by around half a second on run three.

"The wind is going to play a big part in this event - it's like it is attacking this jump."

Great Britain's Katie Ormerod will be the 27th athlete to compete in this qualification run. The top 12 will progress. So far New Zealand's Zoi Synnott Sadowski tops the rankings after one run.

I really think [the Monobob] has been a really good addition to the Olympic program. It brings more people into the sport and that it a really good thing as it is a brilliant sport to be involved in.

    Canada 4-0 ROC

Canada are giving the Russian Olympic Committee an early hiding in women's curling, they lead 4-0 after two ends.

Skip Jennifer Jones is out there running things for the 2014 gold medal winners.

Asked why she has passion for curling, Jones has said: “I love the smell of the ice. I love the feeling of just being out there. I was a shy kid and I think curling gave me the best of both worlds, especially when I was skipping. I had my own space, and yet I was a part of a small team and I felt like I really belonged.”

I never realised ice had a unique smell.

Anyway, Canada have one win in five matches here so far. They simply have to win this one if they are to put a run together and finish in the top four of the round robin stage.

    Women’s qualifying

    Anna Thompson
    BBC Sport in Beijing

The skiers treated us to some phenomenal tricks at Shougang Park last week so what have the snowboarders got up their sleeves in the big air competition?

It’s men’s and women’s qualifying today and Katie Ormerod is in action for Great Britain and is bib number 27.

She finished 18th in slopestyle and will have fun today as she bids to get into one of the top 12 finals spots.

I messaged her mum after Katie’s slopestyle. She was mightily relieved and proud her daughter had completed two fantastic runs after her injury nightmare in 2018.

There are “no demons” now, her mum said.

It’s a stacked field though with Zoi Sadowski-Synnott looking to add to her slopestyle gold and defending champion Anna Gasser vying for a top 12 too.

We will of course be all over Fear and Gibson. You can watch their rhythm dance effort below.
