  1. Russia pull back a point

    Great Britain in a good spot in the second end, despite not having last-stone advantage.

    Bruce Mouat's final rock clunks the solitary Russian lump out of the circle.

    Time to see what opposite number Sergei Glukhov can manage. Can he land one close enough to take a point out of the end

    It's close, but his stone pulls up just in time, despite the frantic sweeping of the British boys who sniff a half-chance to usher it out of the contention.

    Russia pull one back, but that is not much of an inroad into the British lead considering they had the hammer in that end.

    Norway's Sebastian Foss-Solevaag moves into silver, pushing Daniel Yule out of the medals and even Great Britain's loosely connected medal hopes have melted away...

    A guarantee of points with Great Britain lying two ahead of skip Bruce Mouat's final stone.

    Does he try for three? Or bank the two? Stick or twist? He twists like a 1960s teeny bopper.

    A lovely lazy gliding stone right up into the circle and it is fistbumps all round as Great Britain open up with a commanding lead from the first end.

    If Daniel Yule can stay in the medal positions, the Brits can half claim him as their own.

    His parents are British but he has lived in Switzerland all his life and chose the Swiss ski system, although he did race in the British Championships when he was younger.

    The 28-year-old has said previously there will always be a bit of him that is British. That's good enough for me!

  9. Ryding out of the medals

    The times are tumbling now.

    And so is Dave Ryding, he goes from gold to silver to bronze and then out of the medals altogether as Italy's Giuliano Razzoli and then Switzerland's Roman Zenhaeusern go past him.

    The GB skiier is nudged into silver by Switzerland's Daniel Yule, who becomes the first person to break the 50-second barrier in this competition.

    We are up and running in the National Aquatics Centre, with Hammy McMillan sliding down the first British stone and barking the orders.

    Russia have beaten Great Britain once in five previous meetings by the way.

    Excellent start from Dave Ryding, he settled nicely. He's adapted well to these weird and wonderful snow conditions in Beijing - he has skied at or near his best to top the table at the half-way point.

    He's done that. He now has to wait and see what the 15 others to ski have got.

    There were some big time differences from the first run so the race really didn't start until Marco Schwarz went out of the gate. He's had a good second run and put down a decent time - the course looks pretty inviting I think.
