Not to be for James Clugnet and Andrew Young at the cross-country. They finish 10th in their semi-final and that's not good enough to reach the final.

I just spoke to them both in the mixed zone and it turns out Clugnet's pole broke on his second lap, making the rest of his race extra difficult.

This won't be the last we see of this pair though - they've committed to doing better at the 2026 Winter Olympics, which will be Young's FIFTH Games!

It was a really good, strong performance, a great first end, they came out firing and got a three and really set their stall in the game. It was very hard to defend a lead for another nine ends and they really did that well. Played the scoreboard well and just ran out of stones.

They're making it look really easy out there.

The Russian Olympic Committee and Germany fill second and third spots.

Great Britain make it six wins from seven matches in the curling pool stages as Bruce Mouat lands his final effort right on the button.

They are still in with a shout of finishing top of the standings and securing top seeding for the semi-finals.

Their final pool game is against Canada on Thursday before their semi-final.

You will be loving this then Kirsteen.

One stone left for each team. The house wide open.

Sergei Gluhkov cosies up to the bullseye.

But Bruce Mouat takes this out in his sleep. Surely?

Wondering what the 'classic' part of the event name means? That's the skiing technique used.

The classic technique sees the athletes ski back and forth following parallel tracks in the snow.

This differs from the freestyle technique, which is faster and sees the athletes move their skis from side-to-side in a skating like movement.

Not too much wrong with how Great Britain have played here, it's just that Sergei Glukhov has been able to play the shots when he has needed to and he's limited Great Britain's scoring in the previous couple of times they have had the hammer and they have picked up their two.

When you give one to the opposition and then pick up two, one to the opposition then pick up two you close the gap.

The Russians refuse to be shaken off the tail of Great Britain. Sergei Glukhov lands his final stone to score two and reel in Great Britain to a one-stone lead.

Bruce Mouat's team have the hammer in the final end. It would take some further drama from the Russians to nick a point or two and take this to an extra end or steal victory.

Sergei Glukhov spins in a clever little shot, feathering a red stone on its way into the four-foot circle.

That was helped on its way by some supersonic scrubbing from his team-mates. Russia lie one with one stone left for each team.

I've heard on the grapevine that the cross-country venue here in Zhangjiakou is the coldest venue at these Olympics. I can speak from experience, it gets very, very cold here.

So much so that today's team sprints have been brought forward in the day to avoid the even colder temperatures the early evening will bring. It's currently -14, with a 'feels like' temperature of -21.

Yet I've become so accustomed to the icy conditions, that -14 sounds warm to me!

A really key end there to score because if ROC had got their one then all of a sudden the scoreboard there is only one in it, then they start to feel that momentum and with two ends to go anything can happen.

Great Britain keep clear blue ice between themselves and Russia as they pick up another point to boost their lead to three.

Slow, steady curling over the final two ends should see this out to victory for Bruce Mouat's men.

There are two semi-finals, with four nations progressing from each plus the next two fastest overall.

Each nation's team is made up of two athletes, who each take three turns to ski alternately in an A-B-A-B-A-B format.

Great Britain's Andrew Young and James Clugnet go in semi-final one.

France and Poland will progress as the lucky losers.
