Bruce Mouat is very calm and composed. I don’t think he lets the pressure get to him which is a major factor.

His shot-making ability is so impressive, he is probably one of the best shot makers in the world.

He makes the shots when you need them most.

    You may ask yourself.

Well, Bruce Mouat and his men have made pretty much flawless progress to this gold-medal match, winning eight out of nine pool-stage matches and avenging their one defeat - against the USA - in the semi-finals.

They beat Sweden 7-6 in the pool stages, holding off a late charge which saw the opposition pick up three unanswered points in the final two ends.

  3. 'Clash of the titans'published at 06:35 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Men's gold-medal match: GB v Sweden (06:50 GMT)

    Thomas Duncan
    BBC Scotland in Beijing

This match is the 'clash of the titans' in men's curling. Those aren't my words, but those of Swedish skip Niklas Edin.

“For the last couple of years they've probably been the most consistent team," he said.

"And in championships over the past seven, eight years we've been the most consistent team."

He's right, too. These teams will have contested the last three major championship finals.

Sweden won the world title, Bruce Mouat's Scotland team won the Europeans - so who will be the Olympic champions?

  4. 'Handled expectations really well'published at 06:33 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Men's gold-medal match: GB v Sweden (06:50 GMT)

    Michael Goodfellow
Olympic silver medallist on BBC TV

Great Britain have been professional and really clinical so far.

They’ve been ranked number one in the world for the last season so there were high expectations on them and they’ve handled them really well.

They’ve been very composed the whole way through. I think it’s been important that they haven’t got too high after a win or too low after a loss.

  5. 'They are the real deal'published at 06:30 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

    Men's gold-medal match: GB v Sweden (06:50 GMT)

    Jackie Lockhart
Four-time Olympic curler on BBC TV

This should be a tremendous game today. Everybody back home is going to be hoping it is gold for Great Britain.

They have put years, weeks, months, days and hours in to be this consistent. They are on a roll at the moment – eight wins, one after the other. Can they make it nine?

People back home were thinking these guys might be the real deal. I can tell you now that they are the real deal.

And they are just at the beginning of their sporting career, so could this be the pinnacle and then a long future ahead of them to win even more?

Saturday's highlight, as far as Team GB are concerned, is of course the men's curling gold medal match.

We know it will deliver Britain's first medal of these Games - but will it be gold or silver?

Not since 1924 have Britain managed to win a men's curling gold medal at an Olympic Games.

But Bruce Mouat's team are just one victory away from ending that 98-year wait.

I'm not surprised the cross-country has been pushed back. Today feels like the coldest day we've had up here in the mountains throughout the Olympics, and that's mainly because of the wind. It is biting.

The cross-country venue is the coldest venue at these Games.

  10. Weather causes postponement and delaypublished at 06:15 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

The freeski athletes battled on in difficult conditions in the men's halfpipe final - with many suffering nasty falls - but not all events have gone ahead as planned today.

The final event of the alpine skiing programme - the mixed team parallel - will now take place on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the cross-country skiing men's 50km race will not start before 07:00 GMT, currently an hour later than scheduled, and will instead be a 30km race.

    Men's ski halfpipe

This is sweet! David Wise has celebrated his silver medal in the ski halfpipe with his wife and kids - well cardboard cut-outs of them.

Families and friends are not allowed at the Games because of the strict covid restrictions so Wise made sure wife Alexandra, daughter Nayeli and son Malachi could still get in on his achievement.

It's not a second gold for the Wise family after he triumphed in Pyeongchang - but daddy's bringing home another Olympic medal. A super proud day for them all!

    Four-man bobsleigh

And team-mate Greg Cackett said: “Fingers crossed we come back fighting tomorrow. It was two good runs, it was two good pushes.

"I’m so proud, we have come such a long way. Sixth overnight at the Games is a drastic improvement on 2018.

"We wont stop until the fourth heat."

Team GB's Nick Gleeson added: "There’s so many aspects to the sport – the weather, the humidity, so many things that can affect the sport, so many things that are unknown.

"We just have to go home tonight, look at the time sheets and go from there.”

Let's hear from Team GB’s four-man bobsleigh team, who are in sixth position following their first and second heats.

First up, pilot Brad Hall told the BBC: "Sixth place overnight is definitely not a bad position, just look at the nations that are in front of us.

"Everyone in front of us has their own ice track, they’ve got so much research and development. They should be ahead of us."

    Men's 50km mass start

Safe to say Andrew Musgrave isn't best pleased with the news that the cross-country skiing 50km race has been pushed back - and apparently also significantly shortened.

"FIS have just shortened the Olympic 50km to a 28km because it's a bit cold and windy," Musgrave tweeted.

"I don't see that that will make it any warmer or less windy."
