The worst-case scenario for Team GB's curlers is two silvers, which would be a fantastic achievement.

Two golds would be a little bit special, though...

'I'm so proud of these girls'published at 04:44 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February 2022

The shot of the match was undoubtedly British skip Eve Muirhead's score of four in the ninth end to give GB an 11-8 lead, only for Sweden to deliver another twist to the story.

"I'm pretty speechless right now but what a moment," said Muirhead, who is competing at her fourth Olympics.

"It sounds amazing to say we're in an Olympic final. It is third time lucky. I've lost two semi-finals before and I was desperate for it. These moments and opportunities don't come around very often.

"I'm so proud of these girls. It is such a team game and all week we have dug so deep."

The British pair sit 19th out of 20 after the opening two heats - with heats three and four taking place after 12:00 GMT today.

"It is one of those things where we don't fully know what's going on," said McNeill. "Something has gone drastically wrong, it hasn't all come together."

It's so tight in the four-man and Britain's Brad Hall makes a couple of tiny mistakes which cost him a few hundredths of a second to slip a couple of places.

But the Russian Olympic Committee sled is a bit ragged too so Hall finishes sixth - 0.69 seconds off the lead but only a third of a second off a medal.

They are still in contention going into Sunday's medal runs.

It's a smooth start for the British quartet, but they just lose some speed after clipping the top of the track.

It puts them in third for now.
