Golf can be quite the family affair.

Players are often followed around the course by their romantic partners, parents and siblings.

Earlier I was stood close to Xander Schauffele's parents as they watched the defending Olympic champion putt out on the first green.

You see it among the fans, too. Families spanning all ages - from toddlers to teenagers to the middle aged and even more senior - hover around Le Golf National.

Spotted one notable dad and lad enjoying a day out earlier - rugby icons Andy and Owen Farrell.

Japan's Maika Hamano has just run over to give her former coach Emma Hayes a big hug.

The Chelsea forward is one of quite a few Japanese players who ply their trade in the Women's Super League.

Hamano does not start today but Manchester City's Yui Hasegawa and Aoba Fujino, who has just joined the club this summer transfer window, are in the starting XI along with Liverpool's Fuka Nagano.

Great Britain’s Jake Jarman and Luke Whitehouse are out on the floor at the Bercy Arena getting ready for their apparatus final (14:30 BST)

They looked relaxed, while behind them a couple of their rivals were having some rather painful-looking massage.

Their floor final is the first of three gold-medal events here today, coming before the women’s vault (15:20) and pommel horse (16:16).

When is the men's 100m final?published at 13:39 British Summer Time 3 August

First things first, we still have the three semi-finals to look forward to before the final itself.

They take place at 19:05 BST on Sunday evening, that's tomorrow for those of you like me who have lost track of days during all this Olympic excitement.

The final is later the same evening, the showpiece event of the night at the Stade de France, and you'll want to be sat down ready to watch at 20:50 BST. Any later and, chances are, you'll have missed it.

Meanwhile, the women's 100m final is tonight at 20:20 BST.

    Men's 100m - round one

As Meat Loaf once sang, two out of three ain't bad.

Well, try telling that to Team GB sprinter Jeremiah Azu after a false start caused him to be disqualified in the men's 100m heats this morning.

Devastating for him and not the start the British team would have wanted. But, thankfully, things improved from there.

British champion Louie Hinchliffe produced a superb performance to clock 9.98 and beat USA superstar Noah Lyles in his heat.

The 22-year-old was joined in the semi-finals by Zharnel Hughes, who overcame a slow start to qualify in third place behind former world champion Fred Kerley of the US.

The pace has also picked up in the peloton and it is back within seven minutes of the leaders approaching the halfway point.

    USA v Japan

    Jess Anderson
BBC Sport at Parc des Princes

It always feels strange watching football at the Olympics but what an opportunity for fans to come to this fantastic stadium and experience some international women's football.

Of course, Team GB did not qualify for the Olympics but there is some British interest here in the form of former Chelsea boss Emma Hayes.

After steering the Blues to a fifth consecutive Women's Super League title last season she joined up with the United States women's national team as they try to turn their fortunes around following a disappointing few years.

This is Hayes' first tournament in charge of the USWNT and it's been so far so good as they came through their group with three victories from three.

The four-time Olympic champions take on Japan shortly for a place in the semi-finals.

Rory McIlroy was hoping for a more rewarding trot around Le Golf National today.

A rollercoaster round yesterday - featuring an eagle, four birdies, two bogeys and a double - could have been oh so much better.

The mistakes have been cut on the front nine today.

Three birdies, without dropping a shot, have moved McIlroy to eight under.

The Team Ireland golfer remains four shots behind Britain's Tommy Fleetwood, who is one clear of Spain's Jon Rahm and Xander Schauffele of the United States.

An almost perfect day one of qualification for British shooter Amber Rutter in the Women’s Skeet!

75 clays. 74 hits. Missing just her 3rd from last shot in Round 3.

Composed, assured and relaxed throughout, Rutter’s score keeps her well-positioned for a top 6 finish needed to progress through to tomorrow’s final.

On her performance Rutter added “It was a great first day, better than I could’ve hoped for and I’m just so pleased with my performance.”

“When you’re in the Olympic Games the pressure is immense, but there’s a sentence from Greys Anatomy that I was watching - ‘If you stand like superman the confidence comes through’ - so you’ve just got to puff out your chest, put on your big girl pants and let the scores rack up, and that’s what I did!”

We’re back for two more qualification rounds of 25 shots each in the morning…

Carl Hester has been speaking to BBC Sport after scoring 76.520% in the team dressage final.

"It's a good score, but my average this year has been around 78 and that's what I was aiming for. But of course situations like this throw you in a different direction and you don't always get what you want.

"I'm happy, it's keeping us right up there. Any medal will be great, let's face it, after the couple of weeks we've had. It will be great for the whole team and our supporters that are here."

A swell of support for Tommy Fleetwood on the course - and not just from British fans.

French-accented encouragement of "Allez Tom-eh" can be regularly heard.

Le Fleet starts par-par which is enough for him to take the outright lead.

Playing partners Xander Schauffele - who misses a tiddler of a putt - and Hideki Matsuyama - who hit his tee-shot into the drink - drop shots on the second.

Meanwhile, Ireland's Rory McIlroy is four shots behind his European Ryder Cup team-mate after going through the first six holes today two under.
