I don't think realistically that Team GB will be pushing for those medal positions. I think if they can do their routines cleanly and try and push Canada and Japan for that top five spot. I think that is a really good aim to go for. Clean routines and they will be very happy.

Team GB have had a couple of major injuries, Jessica Gadirova we lost to an ACL injury, but the team that are out there still have strength and depth.

Unfortunately in qualification there was a few errors but, everything starts from scratch today.

We know they are going to go all out with difficulty so there will be a couple of upgrades and if everything comes off they can push for a third place.

    The gymnasts are coming in....

Great Britain have just been introduced - enter Alice Kinsella, Becky Downie, Ruby Evans, Abigail Martin and Georgia-Mae Fenton.

They will be starting on floor this evening as they seek a repeat of their surprise medal three years ago in Tokyo, where they took bronze.

Based on what we saw in qualifying, they will need to tighten up on their errors if they are to launch a challenge.

But it’s a sport of fine margins and any errors can change things considerably – just ask the China men’s team after they let gold slip out of their hands yesterday with those two falls from the high bar by Su Weide in the last rotation.

After floor, GB will move on to vault, then bars, then beam.

New Zealand will look to defend their Olympic crown when they face Canada at 18:45 BST in the women's rugby sevens final.

The Tokyo 2020 gold medallists defeated the United States 24-12 earlier today to reach the final, with Canada overcoming Australia 21-12 in the other last-four tie.

The USA and Australia will contest the bronze medal match at 18:00 BST.

Great Britain's medal hopes were ended on Monday following a 17-7 defeat by the USA in the quarter-finals.

All eyes again will be on Simone Biles very shortly.

She’s looking to add to her four Olympic gold medals – all of which were won at Rio 2016. She was favourite to win several more in Tokyo three years ago but then pulled out of four finals after suffering with the ‘twisties’ – a disorientating mental block.

It was in this team event three years ago where she had difficulties during her vault which meant she took the decision to sit out the rest of it and watched from the stands as her team-mates claimed silver behind Russian Olympic Committee.

But she’s back and her team are hot favourites for the gold after qualifying top by a considerable margin.

The Brits on one of the outer courts at Roland Garros are having a ball.

Heather Watson and Katie Boulter are leading by a set and a break against German pair Angelique Kerber and Laura Siegemund.

The British team are combining well with Boulter’s strength from the back of the court supplemented by Watson’s ability at the net.

This would be a heck of win against a strong German team.

That is a massive relief for Joe Clarke. He is third quickest despite the penalty. He puts his thumbs up, puffs his cheeks and the Team GB flags wave in the crowd. I didn't see anything untowards in that second run so fingers crossed he is into the semi-finals.

It's the master (Nadal) and the apprentice (Alcaraz).

How far can they go in this event?

As it stands in their second round tie, the Spanish duo are trailing but the opening set remains on serve and they are looking to level against Dutch duo Tallon Griekspoor and Wesley Koolhof.

We're getting ready at the Bercy Arena for the women's gymnastics team final.

At the start they always introduce the apparatus for anyone who might only come to the sport once every four years.

And they all sound terrifying, not helped by some dramatic music while they are describing them.

The 10cm-wide beam, which is 125cm above the floor, for example is a "test of nerves". Just a bit.
