Moments after the men’s all-around medal ceremony finished last night at the Bercy Arena, they quickly started taking down the men’s apparatus and replacing it with the women’s.

The high bar area now houses the uneven bars and the pommel horse and rings have made way for the balance beam. There’s just a big gap where the parallel bars were. The floor and vault have stayed in place.

    SO CLOSE.

Titouan Castryck slaps his helmet after narrowly missing out on the gold medal position, prompting Italy's Giovanni de Gennaro to drop to the floor in disbelief as he his place on the podium is confirmed with just two athletes to come.

The atmosphere has been brilliant here every day, but I have not heard a noise like that at these Games as the French 19-year-old chased the gold.

Titouan Castryck was building on his run. He knows this course so well.

It was an unbelievable run until he got stuck on gate 16 and he couldn't react quick enough - how frustrating for him.

The upstream gate at 17 was his undoing.

The Frenchman finishes just 0.20 seconds off leader Giovanni De Gennaro, who is guaranteed to get a medal.

GB have extended their lead against the USA by a further two goals in the third quarter of their penultimate Pool B match.

Sophie Hamilton broke down the left before squaring to Hannah French, who did well to get in front of the USA keeper Kelsey Bing and turn the ball into the net.

Then Sarah Jones impressively connected with a ball at waist-height to drive past Bing and give GB a 5-2 lead.

With Spain leading South Africa 1-0 in the other match in the pool, as things stand GB will progress to the quarter-finals.

Not only will the 19-year-old have the support of the crowd, he also holds an intimate knowledge of the venue.

He was an impressive winner of the test event in October, taming the challenging Vaires-Sur-Marne course to post an error-free run of 89.20.
