The British women's four hold their arms aloft to the British fans in the stands as they receive their silver medals.

Beaming smiles have replaced the disappointment faces we saw after they were pipped on the line to gold.

Three more rowing medalspublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 1 August

Perhaps not quite the colours they'd have wanted, in particular the women's four, but it's three more medals for the Team GB rowers.

After disappointing results in Tokyo three years ago, it has been much more like what we've come to expect in Paris.

Two bronze, a silver and a gold. Not bad at all!

'A good result for them'published at 11:23 British Summer Time 1 August

GB win bronze in men's four final

    Dame Katherine Grainger
Olympic rowing gold medalist on BBC TV

Have they got bigger issues that need to deal with around the boat park?

I think we've seen over the season, they've had big challenges coming out of the last couple of years. It's a real test of cohesion in that boat. Britain had to get away from that Italian boat. As much as we can tell from the outside, they will be proud of the medal.

We're also very respectful that any crew from any country has their challenges, but they were never in the race for gold/silver. To put themselves into that field and still come away with a medal after not the most confidence inspiring season, that's a good result for them.

We've seen different crews come out of the pandemics in different ways. The British group came out strong, but we knew coming into the regatta all nations were coming out stronger and that's what happened.

'That was good today'published at 11:21 British Summer Time 1 August

    Men's four final

    Jess Eddie
Team GB Olympic silver medallist rower on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think the guys went out there to win the race. They know they were beaten in the earlier rounds. At that point you need to look at your race plan to see how to get on the podium and to be fair they've done it. A bronze medal for the men's four, I think that was good today.

  5. rowing

'They will feel this medal'published at 11:18 British Summer Time 1 August

    Men's four final

    Moe Sbihi
Olympic champion rower on BBC TV

I think the boys are going to be really happy with that bronze. We had question marks for the double world champions, how did they get into a position where they are celebrating a bronze medal like that, but it is a fantastic medal. Something went wrong in those first 10 strokes.

When you get bronze, it depends on your perspective, but I'd struggle to say that's a fun result, but it is a first Olympics for them. They will feel this hunger and it will spur them on to get a better colour medal.

  6. bronze medal

Bronze Medal for Great Britainpublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 1 August

    Men's four final

    It's bronze for Great Britain!

They recover from a poor start to claim a 20th medal for Team GB at this Olympic Games.

Fine effort from Oli Wilkes, David Ambler, Matt Aldridge and Freddie Davidson.

Team USA hold off New Zealand to take the gold.

These Italians love it, they breathe off of it. They love to feel that pain and that red zone. GB are starting to come into medal contention.

  8. rowing

GB up to thirdpublished at 11:14 British Summer Time 1 August

    Men's four final

Heading into the last 500m and Great Britain have moved themselves up to third, just ahead of Italy.

USA lead from New Zealand but that is going to be some tussle for the gold medal.

'This will not be in the race plan'published at 11:13 British Summer Time 1 August

    Men's four final

    Moe Sbihi
Olympic champion rower on BBC TV

Only the four men in that boat and their coach will know their race plan, this will not be in their race plan, they will have wanted to be with the front boats. They need to pick off one crew at a time.

NZ and USA lead after 500mpublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 1 August

    Men's four final

There is nothing to separate New Zealand and Team USA after 500m.

Plenty of work still to do for Great Britain but they've managed to work their way back up to fourth.

A medal is still there for the taking...

'GB need to stay calm'published at 11:11 British Summer Time 1 August

    Men's four final

    Moe Sbihi

A really sluggish start from Team GB. Every stroke looked like they were going backwards. They are nearly a length back. They need to stay calm and work their way back.

    Men's four final

    We're ready to go again.

Oli Wilkes, David Ambler, Matt Aldridge and Freddie Davidson are the Great Britain crew in the men's four final. They go in lane two.

Not a great start from the Brits but there is, at least, time to try and pull it back.

What's happening in the tennis today?published at 11:08 British Summer Time 1 August

    Jonathan Jurejko
    BBC Sport at Roland Garros

Things are getting serious in the Olympics tennis events now.

It's quarter-final time in the doubles and men's singles. But it's semi-final time in the women's singles.

British pair Katie Boulter and Heather Watson are in women's doubles action at 12:00 BST, when they meet Italian third seeds Jasmine Paolini and Sara Errani.

Later on today, fellow Brits Andy Murray - in the final tournament of his illustrious career - and Dan Evans face American third seeds Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul in the men's doubles.

Come through those contests and they are guaranteed to play in a medal match later this week.

In the singles, Serbia's Novak Djokovic, Spain's Carlos Alcaraz and Poland's Iga Swiatek are the big hitters in action today.

Plays starts from 11:00 BST and you can check out the full schedule here.

The GB quartet are absolutely exhausted after that gruelling battle to the line.

Hugs all around as they congratulate the other medallists.

Is that the last time we'll see Helen Glover in a boat? Quite a career even if this wasn't the gold she wanted.

  16. Great Britain in the medalspublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 1 August

It's now a brilliant 19 medals for Great Britain with still so much up for grabs.

    'A surprise'published at 11:04 British Summer Time 1 August

    Women's four final

    Dame Katherine Grainger
Olympic rowing gold medalist on BBC TV

It was a surprise. Huge respect to the Dutch. It is about how you deliver that 2,000 metres, it was that first 500 metres, whether the Dutch raised their level or Britain couldn't get to that level. On that sprint at the end, the Dutch cantered towards the end where the Brits couldn't.

Until that final stroke, it's always up for grabs until it isn't.

  18. rowing

'Not the medal colour they wanted'published at 11:02 British Summer Time 1 August

    Women's four final

    Moe Sbihi
Olympic champion rower on BBC TV

It's a silver medal, it's not the colour they wanted. They were favourites and wanted to be champions, but the sprint was maybe telling, they were unable to take it up. The proximity between the two boats were so close, the Dutch just had that answer.

There was maybe a lack of spark from Team GB in the early rounds, we thought we'd see it today, we did it but it was just not enough.

'The Dutch had an answer'published at 11:00 British Summer Time 1 August

    Women's four final

    Jess Eddie
Team GB Olympic silver medallist rower on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think they're shattered they got their bows ahead with 200 metres to go and remarkably the Dutch had an answer, they came back again. You don't really see that in rowing. Fair play to the Netherlands, they held on to it.
