How will Evans and Murray fare tonight? Honestly, who knows.

Doubles is unpredictable at the best of times - and then you throw Andy Murray into the mix.

No doubt about it, Fritz and Paul are the real deal as singles players. They also have form as a doubles team.

The good pals are playing their 14th event together and have a couple of ATP semi-finals, back in 2022, on their doubles CV.

They also have a point to prove after going out already in the Olympic singles.

    Men's racing

The men's BMX racing quarter-finals are under way in Paris, with Tokyo silver medallist Kye White representing Great Britain.

The competition is made up of three runs, each comprising three heats. After the first set of races the competitors will be reorganised based on their finishing place, and the same happens after the second run as well.

The riders will accumulate points based on their position - the lower you score, the more chance you have of progressing to the semi-finals.

White went in in the second heat and hasn't had an especially wonderful first run, finishing fifth in an eight-man race.

Simone Biles has her Team USA tracksuit top on, sitting patiently waiting for her turn on the floor.

She can also pass the time by watching her team-mate Sunisa Lee in action. The crowd cheer as the 21-year-old defending all-around champion steps into the Olympic arena. Will the routine live up to the hype?

The fans love it, whatever happens next...

'Evans made sacrifices to be here'published at 19:16 British Summer Time 1 August

    Fritz/Paul v Evans/Murray

    Jonathan Jurejko
    BBC Sport at Roland Garros

Mentioned this earlier in the week but worth reiterating as we build up to Murray and Evans going again.

It has gone slightly under the radar what Evans has sacrificed to be here - and to be Murray's wingman.

The 34-year-old Briton, who has struggled for form and fitness this year, will plummet down the world rankings because he is playing in Paris instead of the ATP event in Washington DC which he won last year.

Evans will drop to outside of the top 170, meaning he will now have to scrap and qualify for the biggest tour events.

But he was desperate to compete in his first Olympics and prioritised the doubles alongside his old mucker Murray.

"He's amazing to play with and it's an amazing atmosphere - everything from the lodge, the village," Team GB.

"To be a part of it has been amazing regardless what's happening. I'm over the moon that I came."

Andy Murray's path to tennis superstardom has been like the yellow brick road.

From humble beginnings in Dunblane, he has walked tall to the promised land of Grand Slams titles.

Fittingly, his goodbye has started to feel like Elton John's Farewell Yellow Brick Road - a long, emotional celebration where he really has felt the love. Tonight and lots of other nights.

Will the curtain finally come down? Or will the roadshow be extended to another encore?

So far, so good for Novak Djokovic.

The Serb takes the first set against Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas with a classy cross-court winner.

As I said earlier, an Olympic gold medal is the one thing missing from Djokovic's collection. His best Olympic performance was at Beijing in 2008 when he claimed the bronze.

Ex-GB gymnast Bronze and silver medallist Lewis Smith: "They (team GB gymnastics women's team) came into this Olympic games a little bit shaky, just because of the fact they don't have a head coach and three of their top gymnasts are injured.

"So it hasn't been easy coming into these Olympic Games for them and the first two rotations for that qualifying showed that but they found their feet."
