There are two Ukrainians leading this competition, which is pretty unexpected - it had really all been about the Chinese and Japanese favourites. But Oleg Vernaiev, who took silver in this event at Rio 2016, leads the way ahead of Illia Kovtun.

GB's Jake Jarman is fifth and Joe Fraser is seventh. Very much still in it.

Nigerian officials have told the BBC they are trying to work out how Favour Ofili’s name was left off the entry list for the women’s 100m at Paris 2024.

The 21-year-old sprinter was expecting to compete in three events at her first Olympics: the 100m, 200m and women’s 4x100m relay.

But Ofili was told that she had not been registered for the 100m ahead of Friday’s heats.

She subsequently shared a blistering statement on social media saying: “I have worked for four years to earn this opportunity. For what?”

There is confusion as to what happened, with both Nigerian officials and governing body World Athletics denying responsibility.

“We are trying to get to the root of it, because she qualified in our trials and the result was sent to World Athletics,” Solomon Ogba, a vice president of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, told BBC Sport Africa in Paris.

“We just confirmed that. Normally World Athletics will send [entries] for Paris 2024. That is where the confusion is.”

However, World Athletics, the organisation responsible for drawing up start lists, has confirmed to BBC Sport Africa that Ofili was only entered in two events – the 200m and the women’s 4x100m relay.

Nigerian sports minister, senator John Owan Enoh, said the saga will be investigated and there will be "thorough sanctions” for those found culpable for the oversight.

Huge vault from Jake Jarman - it scores the highest number of the day so far at 15.166 ... it wasn't a perfect landing but it was such a difficult twisting vault (three and a half twists to be precise) that it's worth a high difficulty value. That should really lift him up the scoreboard.

Cindy Ngamba who is part of the Refugee Olympic Team, but also a training partner with Team GB spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live after her round of 16 win: "It is overwhelming and I cannot believe it, but I believed in myself.

"Even when I was in the corner and in the changing room I believed in myself, be present in the moment and don't even think about your opponent - listen to your coaches and everything will go well.

"I have worked hard and pushed to hell, I had a moment where I wanted to give up. I was thinking what is this about, and I hope it showed in the ring each round.

"I have been watching the other boxers [Team GB boxers], the decision didn't go their way.

"That is my team and that's my family - they're who I have been training with. In my head I am going to do it for my team we have got to have at least one win.

"Team GB do a lot and the refugee team do a lot - we have got to get one win to brighten the mood."

So, after three rotations, GB's two gymnasts are still in the top 10. The good news is that there are some strong pieces for them to come - Jake Jarman is the current world champion on vault, which is where they are going next.

And the piece after that will be parallel bars, which is where Joe Fraser is a former world champion.
