As a gymnast once you have made a mistake then you are having to hope that another gymnast will make one too. Thankfully for China's Zhang Boheng his biggest competitor Daiki Hashimoto has.

I've never seen that before! You could hear the high bar reverberating for ages after Canadian Felix Dolci comes flying off when preparing to dismount when his handguard split in two. He's left sprawled on the floor on his back as the whole arena looks on in shock.

He's now got up and is not carrying on, or at least not for now.

One point separates the top eight gymnasts at the end of the second rotation. You lose a whole point for a fall so one mistake can change things quite quickly.

Jake Jarman recovered that really well. He made a little slip of the hand going down at the start but he light and strong enough to be able to recover from it. The rest of the routine was really well performed.

I think he has really improved on the pommel in the last year.

    Gymnastics - men's all-around final

    Beth Tweddle
London 2012 bronze medallist on BBC TV

As we saw in the men's team final anything can happen in our sport. It is a long way round, six pieces of apparatus, you have to keep the concentration. If an error comes in, how do you react to that?

We saw the Chinese had two falls in the team final and that ruled them completely out of the gold.

It is a tough ask to be in the medals but I would never say never.
