Great riding from Hamish Turnbull but Azizulhasni Awang is such an experienced track rider and he used everything he had.

He might not be as fast on paper but he has definitely got the experience.

Psychologically Keegan Palmer has missed the chance to put further distance between himself and the field. They got no where near him in the first run and he had the chance to further stretch that advantage, but he hasn't. There is a chink in his armour. The third runs are going to be fascinating.

American Tom Schaar has skating legend Tony Hawk on his feet, mouth wide open and with his hands to the side of his head.

That's some reaction from the GOAT.

Schaar scores 92.23 to beat his first round score but It's not enough to get above Keegan Palmer in the standings - the Australian fell on his second run but remains in the lead due to his first run score of 93.11.

Tate Carew of the USA is in bronze medal position with 91.17.

Keep an eye on Brazil's Pedro Barros in fourth with a score of 86.41. He is stringing together some very aggressive runs and could be in the mix if he attacks the final round.

They played some pretty dramatic music in the velodrome during the first lap of that race, as he and his Colombian opponent eyed each other up. All adds to the brilliant atmosphere in this place.

In qualifying no one held back, from first run to third run they left it all out there. Tom Schaar showing all that power, but with Keegan Palmer's lines around this park it is going to be hard to catch him. It's only going to get better from here on in.

Job done for Great Britain's Jack Carlin to advance into the next round in the men's sprint. He led from start to finish and had saved enough in the tank to hold off a late charge from Colombia's Cristian David Ortega Fontalvo.

Hamish Turnbull goes up against Malaysia's Mohd Azizulhasni very shortly.

You never discount Team GB. This is a new generation coming through, Ethan Hayter is a superstar in his own right individually, and they are an awesome squad of riders. They are very experienced, they ride for each other, I think this is their time.

It is going to be close, but I would love to see them just pip the Aussies again and keep their Olympic hoodoo going.

What an honour to be out here watching Andy Macdonald out here today. There was a roar through the stadium and people stamping their feet. You could feel the vibrations under your seat and it was awesome. The disappointment when the score came in, they thought it was worth more.

He has been through every part of skateboarding. Every medal that you could get at the X Games. Just a phenomenal career, and so to have this just finishing it off for him is awesome. He's not finished by any means though.

Andy Macdonald, who is 51, was delighted to be representing Great Britain at Paris 2024 and while he missed the cut for the eight-man final, he still produced some memorable moments on his Olympics debut.
