Andy Macdonald is 40 years older than the youngest competitor in the women’s competition from yesterday. China’s Zheng Haohao was just 11 when she went yesterday - she didn’t make the final but she did make history as her country’s youngest ever Olympian.

He has just been introduced to the crowd (far left in yellow helmet) and got a great reception.

Charley Hull has not had the best of years.

She has had a few niggly injuries, but she hasn't really performed to her expected level especially after last years second place finishes in the majors.

It all started on the first tee after she knocked it into the water.

A first round to forget for Charley Hull, who posts a nine-over 81 to sit at the foot of the leaderboard at Le Golf National.

It is not much better for GB team-mate Georgia Hall, who is three over after nine.

France's Celine Boutier is five under through 11 to hold a two-shot lead.

The French are going mad for the track cycling.

As they did for the swimming. And the judo. Well, just about any sport their athletes are competing in at these Olympics.

There's an early boost for GB's Micky Beckett as two of his medal rivals - Pavlos Kontides and Stefano Peschiera - were penalised for infringements on the start line.

It means Beckett has moved up to the silver medal position.

There is a long way to go though!

It's a good job skaters get three runs - if you fly off, as plenty have, you have to finish that run and and are only scored on what you've performed so far.

You get another go but also, let's not forget you are falling on to concrete at speed, which has got to hurt so it's probably good to have a bit of a rest.

Light winds have played havoc with the sailing competition, but the breeze has finally picked up enough for the men's dinghy medal race to start.

There was (another) slight delay as the sailors gathered on the start line, but the race has belatedly begun.

Britain’s two-time World Championship medallist Micky Beckett finished fourth at the end of the qualifying series and is firmly in the hunt for a podium finish.

However, he is a long way adrift of his nemesis Matthew Wearn of Australia, who looks nailed on to retain gold and become Australia’s first single-handed sailor to defend an Olympic crown.

London 2012 silver medallist Pavlos Kontides is second, while Peru’s three-time Olympian Stefano Peschiera lies in bronze.

He won’t make the eight-man final as he’s bottom of the leaderboard in 17th.

This track in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines is eight metres wide, as opposed to the normal seven.

That means sprinters can get an extra metre of height before swooping down the bankings for the final lap on the black line - the shortest and therefore quickest line around the track.
