Are we sailing?published at 13:40 British Summer Time 7 August

    BBC One

Arguably the most challenging Olympic event so far today has been the 'Keeping Track Of What Time The Sailing Might Happen'.

The lack of wind in Marseille has caused all sorts of problems for the schedulers, but it looks like things are now starting to fall into place. Maybe.

BBC One has plans to show the men's dinghy medal race, featuring Britain's Micky Beckett, from 13:45 BST.

But if you switch on your TV or click the Watch Live button at that time and see another sport instead... well, we promise that everyone did their best.

I'm back at the pool for the women's 3m springboard preliminaries, which has Britain's Grace Reid and Yasmin Harper in action.

28 divers perform five dives of varying difficulties, with the top 18 progressing to tomorrow morning's semi-finals. Then from there, the top 12 move into Friday's final.

The venue for the skateboarding is a seriously stunning place. It’s like a sightseeing tour of Paris in the background, with the Eiffel Tower, Grand Palais and Luxor Obelisk rising above the concrete bowl.

This is the point at which the individual sprint gets even more fun.

It's a game of cat and mouse on the track, who will flinch first?

Jack Carlin takes on Canada's Tyler Rorke, while Hamish Turnbull faces China's Zhou Yu.

Winners progress, losers go into the repechages.

Track cycling - women’s team pursuit

    Sir Chris Hoy
Six-time Olympic cycling champion on BBC TV

You think about the riders who have been part of the GB quartet, like Laura Kenny, Katie Archibald, that was the fastest four.

There was nothing in it, it was ebbing and flowing. It looked close, the Americans tidied up and were much better than being all over the place during qualifying. They will be disappointed to be that close, they were outstanding.

There were many critics when skateboarding became an Olympic sport at Tokyo 2020, a subculture pushed into the mainstream.

Here in the urban sports park they have put on an exhibition of art trying to show how it has evolved.

Elinor Barker, Josie Knight, Anna Morris and Jess Roberts set a new national record in qualifying yesterday.

They just shaved nearly two seconds off that time again today, but unfortunately it's not enough to guarantee them a medal.

They will race for bronze tonight against either New Zealand or Italy.

    Chris Boardman

When I saw the team from America go slower at the start, I thought that was the opportunity to go for it, but they tidied up so much. When it was so close and I saw the tyre going, it was close. Great to watch.

Both teams were hugely faster than yesterday, that's a lot to ask. It's huge.

Track cycling - women’s team pursuit

    What a race!

Team GB gave it everything but this USA team is so impressive and a strong final lap sees them edge it by just 0.279 seconds.

USA progress to the gold medal match. GB's time of 4:04.908 - a new national record - is likely to be good enough to see them go for bronze.

The US quartet also includes Kristen Faulkner, who won a shock road race gold at the weekend.

She'd been drafted in late to replace Taylor Knibb in the line-up, having only been set to race on the track, and then crossed the finish line in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower first by some margin. That made her the United States' first winner of the Olympic women's road race in 40 years.

She only turned professional in 2020 and previously worked in finance.

    Now she's an Olympic champion.

The atmosphere is cranking up as Celine Boutier has picked up three birdies in four holes - she is three under par.

Boutier is in a share of the lead with the two-time major champion Lilia Vu - they are the pace-setters.

Team GB's Georgia Hall got it one under par at the third, but dropped a shot at the fourth after driving into deep rough so she is now level par.

The news doesn't get better for her compatriot Charley Hull the British star is in dead last position, eight over par.

Not only are three of this GB quartet Welsh - but two of them went to the same school.

Elinor Barker and Anna Morris were in the same year at Llanishen High School in Cardiff.

The team’s travelling reserve, Elinor’s younger sister Meg, went there too.

And so did 100m sprinter Jeremiah Azu.

Not a bad return for one school.

GB v USA coming uppublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 7 August

Track cycling - women's team pursuit

Great Britain were third fastest in Tuesday’s qualifying and they will keep the same quartet of Elinor Barker, Josie Knight, Anna Morris and Jess Roberts as they take on the USA, who finished second fastest.

Knight won silver in Tokyo, along with Barker – although the latter did not ride in the final in Japan. Barker, Knight and Morris were part of the quartet that won the world title in Glasgow last year.

The American quartet includes reigning omnium champion Jennifer Valente, road time trial bronze medallist Chloe Dygert and Lily Williams, all three of whom were part of the team that won team.

The winner of the final two heats - including GB v USA - go through to the final.

Defeat does not necessary mean elimination though. The fastest two teams from the six who haven’t reached the final will compete for bronze.

Pre-determined tactics there. Finucane didn't flinch, she let riders come over the top of her and then she went for the long one. A bold and confident, but secure way to do it. When she went to hit the front, it worked.
