Next up it's the women's uneven bars final and British hopeful Becky Downie will be up fourth as she targets a medal at her third Olympics.

It has already been an emotional week for the 32-year-old, who is competing in Paris just over three years after her 24-year-old brother died a week before the Tokyo Olympic trials - which she pulled out of.

She was emotional in Tuesday's team final, where GB finished fourth, but she looked relaxed just now as she entered the arena to a warm reception.

Her qualifying score of 14.666 qualified her in sixth position but she improved on that in the team final, scoring 14.933. She also possesses one of the highest difficulty routines in the world and if she executes it, you never know what could happen.

Algeria's Kaylia Nemour was the top qualifier with 15.600 and has huge support inside the arena today.

What is skeet shooting?published at 14:41 British Summer Time 4 August

    Shooting - Women's skeet final

It is the early stages of the women's skeet final with Team GB's Amber Rutter underway and currently in a two-way tie for the lead after 10 perfect shots.

    So how does it work?

Shooters fire at a series of disc-shaped targets, which are released one at a time or as simultaneous ‘doubles’ from separate machines (called houses) about 40m apart.

Targets are thrown from two houses in order to cross in the middle of the shooting field.

Targets are released anytime up to three seconds after the shooter’s call. Competitors are only allowed one shot per target, and the gun must be held at elbow level until the target appears.

In qualifying, shooters fire at 125 targets in five rounds of 25 over two days: 75 targets one day, and 50 the other.

The top six athletes in qualifying progress to the final, where scores are reset.

Each finalist shoots, in sequence, at 20 targets. The sixth-placed athlete is then eliminated. The lowest-ranked competitor is knocked out after every subsequent 10 targets until only two athletes remain. They both shoot at another 10 targets (giving a total of 60) to decide gold and silver.

None of them include the likes of Lotte Kopecky, Lorena Wiebes, Marianne Vos and Demi Vollering, who are expected to be the main medal contenders.

They're still in the peloton, which is more than three minutes back and includes GB hopes Lizzie Deignan, Pfeiffer Georgi and Anna Henderson.

Tommy Fleetwood has turned into Sylvester the Cat! He's chasing birdies all over the place.

Another tweetie on the par-three 11th - meaning he's landed twos on all three tiddlers so far - moves him into outright silver medal position on 17 under.

Woah! Jon Rahm, the Brit's playing partner, then misses a short par putt.

Fleetwood is back within two shots of the leader. Interesting. Very interesting...

Meanwhile, Team Ireland man Rory McIlroy has moved up to 15 under after a third birdie on the bounce.

    Crikey!

Djokovic 6-6 Alcaraz - gold medal match

Novak Djokovic can only applaud his young opponent as Carlos Alcaraz nails a backhand winner down the line on the slide.

He follows it up with an inch-perfect drop shot to go up 30-15.

Before going on to secure a straightforward hold? Of course not. A backhand goes wide and he then hits a volley into the net.

Set point for Novak Djokovic... saved with a superb cross-court forehand. The Serb then twice goes long and it's off to the tie-break we go.

    Well done Harry Hepworth!

The 20-year-old is the youngest gymnast to compete in this final and the first ever British man to feature in the Olympic rings final.

Competing at his maiden Olympics, he looked completely at home and it was a brilliant routine.

His score of 14.800 puts him in seventh place. An excellent 8.700 for execution and just not quite enough on the difficulty scale to challenge.

It's encouraging signs for an apparatus the Brits have historically struggled on.

Greece's Eleftherios Petrounias takes the bronze and he's delighted!

Armenian Vahagn Davtyan was last to perform and he overtook Harry Hepworth, who finishes a respectable seventh in what was a very strong contest.

Hepworth has got the vault final to come, but first, we're going to see Becky Downie in the women's uneven bars final. That's coming up in around 10 minutes' time.

Rahm’s rapturous support includes these chicos, who swam up the east coast to France from their home in Alicante… joking.

The women's skeet final is just about to get under way!

Qualification, which sees shooters fire at 125 targets, was extremely close and there's a group of three leading the way.

Luckily for Team GB, Amber Rutter was one of them and she will be a strong contender to come away with a medal.

And what an achievement that would be. The 26-year-old gave birth to her son Tommy just three months ago!
