GB suffer shootout heartbreakpublished at 10:46 British Summer Time 4 August

    Men's hockey quarter-final - GB 1-1 India (India win shootout 4-2)

Calmly flicked in by Raj Kumar Pal and India are through to the semi-finals.

After battling to a 1-1 draw in normal time, despite being down to 10 men for 40 minutes, they win the shootout 4-2.

Such a shame for Great Britain. But their chance was before the shootout when they had the man advantage - and they couldn't take it.

Asher-Smith completes British trio in semispublished at 10:39 British Summer Time 4 August

    Women's 200m heats

Dina Asher-Smith was disappointed yesterday as she failed to reach the 100m final, so she'll feel like she's got a point to prove in the 200. It's a strong run from her, finishing second in 22.28 with Nigeria's Favour Ofili marginally ahead.

So that completes the 200m heats, and it's job done for Team GB. All three athletes are safely through to Monday night's semis.

USA's Gabby Thomas was fastest qualifier with 22.20, and Asher-Smith the third-fastest.

Carl Hester is first up for the Brits. He and his 14-year-old stallion Fame have entered the arena.

In qualifying, only two riders scored higher than 80.000%. We’ve already had five combinations score over that mark with 10 to come, so that shows the standard required here.

We did say it was going to be a rollercoaster! We are into a shootout and we know how much we enjoy those.

So disappointed for Britain that they couldn't find the goal but you have to give it to India.

They have played 40 mins down to 10 men and they have battled really hard and they have got themselves to a shootout.

    Men's hockey quarter-final - GB 1-1 India

Great Britain keep the pressure on right until the last but can't fashion one final chance to win it.

It's been an incredible effort for India to hold on having been down to 10 since early in the second quarter.

Time for a shootout. Eight seconds for the players to advance on the goalkeeper and try to find the net.

PR Sreejesh and Ollie Payne have the chance to be the hero. Arguably, Sreejesh has already secured that status for India today.

    Equestrian - individual dressage final

    Katie Falkingham
    BBC Sport in Paris

Great Britain have won four medals in individual dressage, with Charlotte Dujardin winning three of those including gold in both London and Rio.

As we know, Dujardin isn't competing in Paris, having withdrawn on the eve of the Games and being provisionally suspended by equestrian's world governing body for "excessively" whipping a horse.

Her withdrawal meant Becky Moody was promoted from alternate to make her Games debut, and the now-Olympic bronze medallist qualified for the individual final with the 11th highest score. She'll enter the arena at 10:55 BST.

Lottie Fry (11:50 BST) will lead the British medal hunt today. The 2022 individual freestyle world champion qualified in fourth place, with dressage royalty Carl Hester (10:35 BST) - appearing at his seventh Olympics here in Paris - progressing with the seventh best score.

If it goes to a penalty shootout, I know Great Britain are wholly professional and fantastic, but Sreejesh in an environment like that is a magic card.

He bounces and jumps if it goes to a penalty shoot-out. He is world-class, in the top three goalkeepers in the world, and he is fantastic in shootouts.

    Men's individual archery - Unruh 7-3 Hall

It's all over at the archery for Team GB, where their final remaining respresentative Tom Hall has been knocked out in the men's round of 16.

The 33-year-old from Kenilworth, Warwickshire put up a good fight against the third-ranked Florian Unruh of Germany though, so nearly forcing a shoot-off.

Unruh led 5-1 after three sets, but Hall won the fourth 27-26 with three nines - one of which had to be checked by judges as it was right on the boundary between eight and nine - to keep the match alive.

In the fifth and final set, Hall and Unruh both shot 19 after two arrows - but the Brit was wayward with his third to hit eight, while the German struck nine to pull through.

Reaching the round of 16 was a good result for Dean, as he came into Paris as the 51st ranked archer out of the 64 male competitors.

But his loss means there are no British representatives remaining in archery, a sport in which Team GB have not won an Olympic medal since 2004.
