Ukraine's Yaroslava Mahuchikh won bronze at Tokyo 2020 but has improved vastly over the past three years.

Mahuchikh took gold at the 2023 world championships in Budapest and set a new world record of 2.10m at the Paris Diamond League in July.

The 22-year-old has the world at her feet.

Funny that Josh Kerr got himself in trouble for doing too much media after his heat.

I watched him stop for literally about 10 interviews - he was extremely obliging to everyone who asked for one.

Great for us, but clearly coach Danny Mackey and his team would prefer he saved those lungs for running!

Neil Gourley acquitted himself really sensibly and well all the way through that race.

That has given him some belief as he walks off the track.

    Allison Curbishley
Former GB 400m runner on BBC Radio 5 Live

Josh Kerr is a details man, he leaves no stone unturned. This is the man that wore the exact same style of kit to last year's World Championships that Jake Wightman wore when he beat Jakub Ingebrigtsen to the world title in 2022, psycologically to remind him that the last time he saw a British athlete face him in that kit he lost the title.

He is all in the details. It is going to be a brilliant final.

'It's been pretty smooth'published at 20:26 British Summer Time 4 August

    Men's 1500m semi-finals

Team GB's Josh Kerr speaking to BBC TV after making the men's 1500 final: "I got myself in a high position which was the goal and then just relax really.

"It's top six in a race of 12 people. I'm here to do a lot better than that so it's having the right mindset coming in and also making sure that you are giving the respect to the competition.

"I'm feeling great. I'll be interested in the splits. Other than getting in trouble with how much media I did a couple of days ago, it's been pretty smooth."

A little taste of what could be to come.

Josh Kerr tracked Ingebrigtsen all the way there on the final lap, before pulling alongside his fierce rival just to let him know he was finding it all very easy.

It was tough to tell whether Kerr would use this to make a bit of a statement but saving his energy for when it matters feels like the correct decision.

That felt intense, especially with the dramatic music being played in the stadium. The final on Tuesday night is going to be epic.

This is what we wanted, the clash of the titans. Jakob Ingebrigtsen surprised me, I didn't think he needed to rush out, but he wanted to make it hard and spikey for the rest.

Athletics - women's high jump final

Ukraine's Yaroslava Mahuchikh and Australia's Nicola Olyslagers both fail to clear 2.02m with their first two attempts.

    This is getting tense.

If they are both unable to clear the height a third time then Mahuchikh will take gold because she jumped 2m first time, while it took Olyslagers three attempts.

It's only the first six in each semi-final who advance to the final, so George Mills won't be there after coming in 11th.
